@YoungHalos There are many more in the past and the present. Bottom line, if you sign one of those big contracts, you are expected to perform day in and day out for years.
And when you consistently aren’t performing, you should not be surprised when the fans side with the owners.
The players association wants more teams like the San Diego Padres, who have just been handing out tons of money.
At some point, this is all going to look really bad for the Padres.
7 years and $280M in cash left on his contract after this season by the way. With zero opt outs and a full no trade clause
It's ~$31.8 AAV but $40M cash every year until the end of 2033
@YoungHalos Players are consistently hurting their case by preaching their value, signing contracts like this, and then just not performing. It’s crazy to me.
Machado
Pujols
Rendon
Boegarts
Stanton
Tatis
Cano
K Bryant
The list goes on and on and one. Way more bad contracts than good ones.
The last game isn't even done yet, but Mike Trout is 1-21 with 6 Ks and 0 BBs against the Dodgers this year.
We love him, but we all know the truth. The higher the competition, the more he shrinks back.
@GLNslider I don’t blame him for saying yes. I blame him for not fulfilling his side of the bargain. And raising salaries for other players that don’t deserve it.
It's really important that we as fans speak out on how we feel about the labor negotiations. Players and owners are watching.
I watched Anthony Rendon steal $245M from the Angels for absolutely nothing and cripple our franchise.
I don't ever wanna see that again.
@GLNslider He also made $38M for two consecutive years while doing absolutely nothing. In any other profession you get fired for that.
There are many other stories like that. Those types of players don't deserve raises or big time contracts.
