"if shivaji was born in england, we would've conquered the entire universe"
Many individuals usually claim this misleading line as one of the statements of Governor Mountbatten. However the real statement is completely dfferent. 🫡
"No less dexterous than Alexander the Great... a second Sertorius... comes not short of Hannibal for stratagems."
These are not the words of Maratha chroniclers, but of a contemporary English letter describing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Capt. M. B. Jadhav, the Forgotten Maratha Freedom Fighter on a Secret European Mission for India’s Independence 🚩
In 1906, Captain Jadhav was sent to Europe with the support of Russian diplomats. Although officially dispatched for military training, Russian envoy Zhadovsky reported that Jadhav appeared far more interested in India’s liberation than military science, describing him as “a sincere patriot” whose true intentions remained mysterious. He received financial assistance and letters of recommendation from the Russian Consul Klemm, attended military classes in Switzerland, and is believed to have simultaneously established contacts with Indian revolutionary organisations and sympathetic European circles.
The English recorded that the Adilshahi viewed Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as a "bulwark" against the Mughals—a testament to Shivray's strategic importance. #Shivray#MarathaEmpire#History
