Today I met w the Labour Department of Hong Kong to seek an investigation of the Wall Street Journal's unlawful actions against union participation. As a union rep, I hope to lead by example in affirming & securing the job protections that are guaranteed by law. Photo: boomheadhk

Hong Kong: landmark national security trial of 47 democracy advocates begins. With on-the-ground reporting by @holongsze and @ChauCandice from the @hkfp https://t.co/dyonDqRjjo
Some said on Monday they didn’t know which case they were there for, a woman said she was here for “the Jimmy Lai case” (the media tycoon is charged in a separate NSL case), some others said they joined the queue “as many other people did so.”
The trial against 16 of the 47 democrats charged under the NSL began on Monday, almost two years after the group was first brought to court on 1 March, 2021.
While both hearings saw hundreds of people queuing up outside the court building, some scenes were notably different.
1/ 🧵At least 200 people lined up outside West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts early Monday morning as #HongKong's largest national security case against 47 pro-democracy figures was set to begin: https://t.co/jH93vdMW6A
Gone were members of the public holding up signs and chanting slogans, instead, groups of men and women who were not quite clear on what case they were lining up for took up a sizeable portion of the queue.

In a separate judgement, Lai was allowed to hire King's Counsel Timothy Owen for his upcoming national security trial, with the Chief Judge of the High Court Jeremy Poon saying that it was "clearly in the public interest" to do so.
As the city focuses on CE's first Policy Address today, the High Court ruled that the police can investigate journalistic materials stored in media tycoon Jimmy Lai's phones under a national security warrant.
Ex-chief of Observatory and environmental activist Lam Chiu-ying reacts to mean comments. Funniest video I’ve made, but it’s too long for twitter so let’s check out @ChauCandice’s article and my video in the link below.

Su Shi, the famous poet from Song Dynasty, was also known for his rough career in politics.

Jimmy Lai has been remanded (and then sentenced over other changes) for over 16 months since Dec 2020, while the remaining six defendants in the case have been in remand for close to a year since their prosecution in June and July last year.
The @fcchk board has decided to cancel this year's @HRPressAwards. While undoubtedly a difficult decision, it is an extremely disappointing and I alongside seven other members have resigned from the club's press freedom committee https://t.co/9GwH8waVqz
Yesterday I resigned from the FCC's press freedom committee after three years on the committee, two of them as a board member. As a former winner and judge of the HRPA, I feel nothing but the deepest regret and do not stand by this decision

All HK citizens will be "requested" to take three Covid-19 tests using RATs from April 8 to April 10, except it's voluntary, and the gov't won't have a way to enforce the request, #CarrieLam said
