This has been my favorite project I’ve ever had the chance to work on. Incredibly excited to get this into people’s hands. There really is nothing like it out there.
Benaiah is home! After 4 days of them telling us we were going home the next day it finally happened. He is doing well and we will be monitoring him for signs of the Chylothorax returning. Thank you for all of the prayers these past 3 weeks. We ask that you would continue to pray these next few months as we go in for various follow ups with neuro and genetics. Praise be to God who has answered so many prayers.
Sharing the GiveSendGo and CaringBridge links for our sweet 6 day old grandson who is in the NICU. Feel free to share far and wide. Thank you!

Because he has set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he has known my name.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
— Psalm 91:14-16
It’s been a big couple of days for Benaiah. Yesterday he was switched from breathing tube to CPAP. So far he is handling this well. Today he had his left chest tube taken out and was started on meds that should help slow the fluid. If the fluid does not regenerate on the left side it would be a big step forward. That side has leaked a small bit so please pray it would not leak anymore and that the right side would continue to slow so both tubes can be taken out. Please also pray that he would become more comfortable with the CPAP and would need less assistance there. We praise God for the positive improvements and pray that He would continue to uphold and sustain him.
Update on Benaiah:
The fluid is still regenerating but over the past few days the totals have slowly decreased so that is still good thing. The Doctors are pretty sure the fluid is leaking from his lymphatic system. They are waiting to see how the draining progresses to determine if meds will be needed to slow the drainage. We are hopeful that if it is his lymphatic system leaking that it will heal on its own. The doctor said this can take weeks or sometime months. So unfortunately we could be looking at a lengthy stay here (weeks to months). If he does not heal on his own we would look at meds, surgeries, or therapies.
There’s small amounts of fluid in other places but not enough that they are concerned.
The more positive side of the update is that he has been taken off his blood pressure meds and is so far responding well. He is also continuing to breathe well and they are going to discuss taking the breathing tube out tomorrow.
The doctors are saying that he’s looking good but we need more time to determine any sort of long term plan or outlook.
Some of this has been hard to swallow but he is in great care. We’re at probably best place in the world for him to be at. He’s responsive to us talking and touching him and overall he is acting like a normal baby.
We read plenty of psalms and other scriptures to him this morning. Please pray that the fluid would not regenerate and that the lymphatic system would heal on its own if that is indeed the culprit. Please also pray for his mother. It really hard for her seeing him hooked up and not being able to hold him. To God be the glory.
Would you please pray for my wife and son? He was born 5 weeks early and has complications regarding fluid around the lungs. We covet any prayers. His name is Benaiah. May God be glorified in this.
Heartbreaking seasons can certainly grow us, but they were never meant to define us.
Only God gets to define us. And He says we are chosen. He says we are cherished. He says we are His children, holy and dearly loved.
