ณ วันทนายความปีที่สามซึ่งเขาถูกคุมขัง อานนท์ นำภา ถูกศาลชั้นต้นลงโทษจำคุกในคดี #ม112 จำนวน 11 คดี และคดีอื่น ๆ รวมกันเป็น 31 ปี 9 เดือนเศษ โดยทุกคดียังไม่สิ้นสุดลง ยังมีการยื่นอุทธรณ์ต่อในทุกคดี

ในช่วงแห่งการถูกคุมขังและไม่ได้รับการประกันตัวนี้เอง อานนท์ยังคงออกมาทำหน้าที่ทนายความ ร่วมว่าด้วยในคดีทางการเมืองต่าง ๆ อยู่ในทุกเดือน รวมทั้งร่วมการพิจารณาในคดีที่ตนเองถูกฟ้องร้องอย่างต่อเนื่อง

รวมแล้วมีอย่างน้อย 16 คดีที่อานนท์ออกมาทำหน้าที่ทนายความในชุดผู้ต้องขัง

สำหรับอานนท์แล้ว เขามีความหลงใหลและรักในงานว่าความและเป็นทนายความมาตั้งแต่วัยหนุ่ม "การว่าความมีความสนุกด้วย ไม่ได้สักว่าจะทำ การว่าความคือความสนุก เป็นการเสพชนิดหนึ่ง เหมือนอะไรที่เราเข้าไปเสพ เราลุ่มหลงกับการว่าความพอสมควร"
