@lxeagle17 A flip here could present some national tea leaves too: lots of farms/ag groups depend on federal projects that are currently frozen, St. Lawrence ports and infrastructure projects are in limbo, etc. Lots of typically non-Dem groups getting pissed could get... interesting

@lxeagle17 The permitting nightmare strikes everywhere, working in water quality is no different. Big, useful projects for flood mitigation, streambank stabilization, etc. get caught the regulatory whirlpool for way too long.

@lxeagle17 It'd be a heavy lift, even for Jones (who's an awesome dude). Sarah Compo Pierce comes to mind as an overperformer, Mayor of Watertown, worked for a Rep St. Senator, but it's a nonpartisan role and she likely wouldn't run as a Dem.

@nikicaga I mean this is one of (though by no means only) the reasons the Lt. Governor office flipped in Vermont - highly educated voters don't like weird public health stances, and this certainly won't play well in primary ads.
