I started donating a little over a year ago after realizing I wanted to do more to help people in need in a real and tangible way. There are a lot of causes we can support, but giving blood is one of the few things that literally cannot be manufactured.

Someone, somewhere, has to roll up their sleeve.

That reality hit home a few weeks ago while Kate was receiving an iron infusion. Across from us sat a veteran battling cancer. He was receiving a transfusion of A+ blood, my blood type. It was a treatment of necessity. Without it, he would not have the strength to continue to fight.

If you have a critical or highly needed blood type, I would encourage you to consider donating regularly. You may never meet the person who receives it. You may never know their name, their story, or the battle they are facing.

So Others May Live… it’s not just a mantra.

Your donation could be the reason they get another treatment, another birthday, another holiday, another chance.

Sometimes helping others is not complicated. Sometimes it is as simple as showing up, sitting in a chair, and giving what you can.
