When simulation becomes the norm, it weakens the human capacity for discernment. As a result, our social bonds close in upon themselves, forming self-referential circuits that no longer expose us to reality. We thus come to live within bubbles, impermeable to one another. Feeling threatened by anyone who is different, we grow unaccustomed to encounter and dialogue. In this way, polarization, conflict, fear and violence spread. What is at stake is not merely the risk of error, but a transformation in our very relationship with truth.
🇻🇳🇵🇸 A restaurant in Hanoi, Vietnam refused to serve Israeli customers.
“My shop doesn't accept people from your country.”
The restaurant also displays a 'Free Palestine' sticker on its sign.
Make sure to visit the 'Railway Tuan Café' when visiting Vietnam!
The power of this scene for me is that magic is portrayed as some elite-only knowledge, but it's through "lower class teaching" Coco grew up with that gives her a new angle to utilize magic - a parallel to how art/writing expanded creatively when more had access to it
Fun fact : in the manga, Coco manages to get the flower on the first try but the anime decided to take a different approach by making her fail many times and it hits so much harder cuz we really get reminded that she still is a beginner but tries so hard anyway #whaanimespoilers
Professor Norman Finkelstein:
“Israel is now a madman.”
“It didn’t get its way with Iran, and so it is totally destroying Lebanon now.”
“It is in a state of catatonic lunacy.”
“I’ve said this for years. Now it’s the consensus.”
“Israel is a lunatic state. A lunatic society.”
