Weed escapes poking through your soybean fields this summer? Take the time to identify which species are coming through. In the last two weeks I've found fields with waterhemp in two counties that have previously never been reported. Samples taken for resistance profiling

Final set up for fungicide ROI trials in corn this week. Comparing Pioneers Crop Modelling predicted optimum timing to normal farmers timing (min 5 day separation). Dialled in for specific hybrid planted, planting date, local weather and disease risk models @PioneerSeedsCA

Compared to last year, disease risk and also field observations are substantially lower at this time.

Fungicide timing model will likely start having spray calls starting later next week.

Be sure what is in (or not in!) your fungicide surfactant!

Some individuals are calling for fungicide applications to begin now...

Prior to tassel fungicide applications made with a surfactant must be APE/NPE FREE!!!

If your surfactant has APE/NPE in them, a before tassel application could likely result in arrested ear syndrome, causing very large yield losses!!!

Be sure to check what you are applying if you are going before tassel!

On a side note, I do not feel fungicide applications should begin now in the geography that I cover.

We're back looking at a field that was sprayed with Enlist 1 herbicide last year on June 18th. This fields now in corn and has received an early post app of glyphosate + Crimson + Acuron application. VERY noticeable difference in horsetail pressure! @PioneerSeedsCA

Sadly, I've already heard a couple of instances this season where growers had mixing issues with their Enlist 1 and Glyphosate. Both involved induction systems that didn't get a proper rinse of clean water between concentrates. @PioneerSeedsCA #spraysafe
