FOLKS, I was debating with some colleagues who work in higher ed, and we started discussing the poll below. What say you?
Which breakup in college hurts worse?
Hate seeing @DaveHydeSports going out this way. I've thought a lot about how a lot of the big cities don't have defining voices like they used to—the folks you had to read or listen to whenever something happened with one of your teams.
Hyde was that guy in Miami.
Once upon a time Dave Hyde gave a couple of internet message board weirdos the chance to sub-in and write draft-related blog posts for a legit newspaper...at a time when that was virtually unthinkable. Not exaggerating to say he changed my life. Enjoy the next chapter, legend!
My 36-year run at the Sun-Sentinel is over. Laid off for the first time since I lost my job as an ice-rink skate guard at 17. Cost-cutting move then, they said, too. I'm a month from 65, so please keep any sympathy for my newspaper friends who didn’t make it to the finish line like I have. I’m looking forward to doing some things I want to do so before the hall narrows and the light dims so you might not be completely done with me yet. Thanks to everyone who made it such a fun run.

Shawn and Marlon make over the top comedy movies. When they hit (White Chicks or Don’t Be A Menace) they really hit. When they don’t (Little Man) they are flat out awful.
“The Auburn University Board of Trustees on Friday gave itself complete control over course offerings, curriculum, degree requirements and academic credentials while eliminating shared governance”
Wow
what i find interesting is they kept keldon and vassell around long enough to get to the finals. so often, the non-stars who endure the tank don’t see the payoff. those two got paid and are going to the finals.
