In the last few hours alone Andy Burnham’s Government has talked about:

Cutting energy bills
Lifting the personal tax allowance
Nationalising Thames Water
The biggest council house programme since the War
Giving mayors more funding
Creating a new National Care Service
More overseas aid
Cutting student loan repayments
More employment support
Ending homelessness

These are billions of pounds of spending commitments and that's on top of raising defence spending to 3%.

Where’s the money coming from?

There’s been no serious explanation at all of how they will be funded. I am very concerned the Prime Minister is making a lot of promises without giving the country an explanation about how we can afford them.

We cannot borrow even more - we are paying more in debt interest than we do on defence.

The answer can’t be tax rises either. The tax burden is already far too high, and families and businesses shouldn’t face even higher bills.

The only answer is to cut spending. Andy Burnham should be in Parliament explaining what his actual plans are and how he is going to pay for them.

This beautiful young woman is Vicki Williams, a history teacher from Pembrokeshire, Wales.

On February 5, a 15 year old student walked into her empty classroom and asked her to check his homework.

He then closed the door.

He walked up to her, pulled a knife out of his bag and stabbed her in the head. This was a sustained attack that only stopped when another teacher intervened.

Vicki was rushed to hospital and thankfully survived.

The boy was prosecuted and in court said that Vicki had tried to grab the knife from his bag and he “accidentally assaulted her”.

The prosecution said that he had sought out a lone teacher who he could attack.

Yesterday, he boy was found not guilty attempted murder. He was found guilty of wounding with intent.

He will be sentenced on September 3 but will probably get a few months at a juvenile facility. I doubt that this will change his behaviour.

ONE TAPE NOBODY WANTED TO WATCH

In 2008 a teenage girl in Rochdale told police she had been ra*ed. The Crown Prosecution Service @CPSUK watched hours of her taped testimony, had DNA evidence, and decided a jury would not find her credible. They dropped the case.

While that was happening, an NHS sexual health worker named Sara Rowbotham was doing the opposite of nothing.

Between 2004 and 2011 she sent 181 referrals to police and social services flagging the exploitation of girls in the area. Nobody acted on them.

In 2014, 2 years after 9 men went to prison off the back of this, the council made her redundant.

In 2011 a new chief prosecutor landed in the job. Nazir Afzal @nazirafzal pulled up the same interview tape everyone else had ignored.

Partway through the girl's testimony, the officer interviewing her yawned. Afzal reversed the CPS decision within days.

9 men were convicted in 2012. Years later a second, entirely separate Rochdale network surfaced, different girls, different men, decades of abuse nobody caught the first time round.

Its ringleader Mohammed Zahid got 35 years in October 2025. Same town, 2 rings, both missed for over a decade.

Afzal didn't stop there. He prosecuted @BBCNews presenter Stuart Hall for decades of child abuse. Then he turned on the Metropolitan Police, who have declined to investigate allegations involving Prince Andrew 3 separate times, in 2015, 2021 and again in December 2025.

He told @Channel4News "I can't think of any other reason" why the Met wouldn't investigate. For saying that out loud he got death threats.

The English Defence League camped outside his house demanding he be deported. He was born in Birmingham.

The CPS let him go in 2015. Their official line was efficiency savings.

So here's the scoreboard. The woman who spent a decade raising the alarm lost her job. The man who finally acted on it lost his job too.

The force that spent a decade finding reasons not to look at a prince kept theirs intact.

Nobody who behaved badly in this story paid for it. Everybody who did the right thing did.

Since yesterday, people keep asking me the same question: How can someone be hanged for opening a door?

I want you to see the answer with your own eyes.

Two Iranian protesters. Both killed in front of cameras for showing compassion.

One opened a door when protesters came running security forces right behind them, armed. He let them in. Then he pushed against that same door with everything he had, trying to keep the security forces out. They forced it open. And they killed him right there.

The other had a wounded protester on his shoulder, carrying him through the streets to safety. That was enough.

Empty hands. No weapons. Just human beings doing what human beings do, protecting each other.

The Islamic Republic calls this a crime worthy of death.

That is the Iran the world needs to see. The Islamic republic is terrorist not the people of Iran.
