I’m a huge Oblivion fan—and honestly, this remake means more to me right now than GTA 6.
It was my first big RPG. Not perfect, but it deserves a second life.
Can’t wait to see it reborn.

By the way, we now understand that this decision is primarily due to the fact that the PS6 is coming out on the 27th or 28th. And that it won't have a disc drive. This is simply a cost optimization measure for the console.

GTA 6 won’t be RDR2, but it won’t be GTA V 2.0 either.
My bet is that Rockstar is finally making the spiritual successor to GTA: San Andreas—just set in Vice City.
I want to see that same “everything and the kitchen sink” philosophy return: deep progression, meaningful side activities, world simulation, exploration, customization, and countless gameplay systems—all built on the RAGE engine.
In many ways, RDR2 already feels like the closest thing we’ve had to San Andreas. It shares that ambition and mechanical depth. The only difference is the setting.
Now imagine that design philosophy brought back to a modern GTA.

I’m not saying GTA 6 = RDR2. But if you know Rockstar’s history, you should expect GTA 6 to inherit a lot from RDR2. They’re even using chapter-based storytelling now.
Rockstar’s games have always evolved from one another.
RDR1 was essentially GTA IV in the Wild West. It expanded the gunplay, introduced wildlife, and made side activities and random encounters far more meaningful.
Max Payne 3 was Rockstar’s chance to perfect third-person shooting. They built one of the best TPS systems ever made.
Then GTA V arrived. It borrowed and simplified Max Payne 3’s gunplay, adopted RDR1’s philosophy for open-world activities, added wildlife, and completely changed how the open world felt compared to GTA IV.
Then came RDR2. It pushed exploration, AI, physics, animation, and world simulation to another level. Most importantly, it delivered Rockstar’s deepest and most nuanced story yet, with characters people are still analyzing years later.
So why would GTA 6 suddenly abandon everything RDR2 achieved?
The only time Rockstar truly left its previous ideas behind was when it moved to the RAGE engine. They had to rebuild many of their systems from scratch. Since then, every major Rockstar game has built on the last rather than starting over.

I really hope the PS6 ends up being as special as the PS2 and PS4 were.
The PS5 disappointed me so much that I bought an Xbox Series console at the beginning of this generation—and I don’t regret that decision at all. What I do regret is watching Xbox slowly lose its identity and momentum.
Competition makes the industry better. I don’t want Xbox to disappear—I want it to be strong enough to push PlayStation to be even better.

Looking at everything that’s been happening with Xbox lately and the reports about what’s going on internally, my next console will probably be a PS6.
People will say, “Why would you ever choose Xbox when PlayStation has better exclusives?”
My answer is simple: my entire library is on Xbox, and the integration with PC is fantastic. With Xbox Play Anywhere, buying some games once gives me access on both Xbox and PC. That’s a huge advantage.
On top of that, every PlayStation exclusive I wanted has eventually come to PC anyway.
That said… if the rumored God of War remake trilogy is real, that’s probably enough reason for me to buy a PS6.
Right now, Xbox’s future feels very uncertain.

Microsoft could reportedly shut down four Xbox studios if it can’t find buyers for them, according to a new GamesBeat report citing sources familiar with the company’s plans.
The studios named are:
>Double Fine Productions
>Undead Labs (State of Decay)
>Compulsion Games (South of Midnight)
>Ninja Theory (Hellblade)
GamesBeat says Microsoft is exploring the possibility of selling these studios to preserve jobs.
If no buyers are found, the report claims the studios could be closed, putting around 435 jobs at risk:
>Double Fine: about 100 jobs
>Undead Labs: about 110 jobs
>Compulsion Games: about 90 jobs
>Ninja Theory: about 135 jobs
The report also says Microsoft is expected to begin a new round of Xbox layoffs in early July following the end of its fiscal year.
@DetectiveSeeds@RockstarGames If the game has a high-realism mode, then why not? But it seems like this mechanic is overkill for a regular GTA. Although, if the gas runs out extremely slowly, like in Mafia 2, then perhaps it would be appropriate in some places.
@_raican I disagree that GTA 5 is a successor to GTA SA. GTA 5 is literally a continuation of GTA 4. And GTA 4 is a kind of reboot of the series on a new engine and a tryout. The funniest thing is that RDR2 is more similar to GTA SA in terms of mechanics than GTA 5.
Rockstar's games haven't always been great, and not every game has been a landmark for the video game industry. The arrogance of gamers who place their complete trust in Rockstar is truly sickening. Even the industry's most prestigious studio can fail.
@LordbzB You only say that because you're a Rockstar fan and believe this nonsense. Good dubbing always works well. No quality is lost, especially if you don't speak the language.
@sunriseprelude Not quite, the character Tommy Verseti may exist in the GTA6 universe. But he's an alternate version of him, like Phil Cassidy from the second trailer.
I think it will be. This option, in general, in both RDR2 and GTA 5, was used by players not for active gameplay, but rather for exploration, when you need to take a closer look and find an object. Rockstar's first-person mode is literally not adapted for gameplay, unlike in The Elder Scrolls, where you also have a choice of which mode to play.
What if GTA 6 has an RDR2-style honor system, but instead of tracking morality, it tracks the relationship between Lucia and Jason?
Your choices could affect their trust in each other, and the ending might depend on how their relationship develops throughout the story.
Considering how much Rockstar’s marketing focuses on the two of them, this wouldn’t surprise me at all.

All these console wars are pretty amusing when we're dealing with rising prices and a global memory shortage.
We're living in a time when gamers are having to accept higher prices for games, hardware, subscriptions, and pretty much everything else. Yet people still spend their time fighting over plastic boxes and brand loyalty.
At this point, it makes a lot more sense to be concerned about the rising cost of gaming than arguing over which logo is on your console.
Agreed. The only thing I'm disappointed by is that they still seem to have played it safe with the headshot multiplier.
A +0.05 to +0.07 increase doesn't sound particularly significant, and I doubt it'll be noticeable on many weapons in actual gameplay.
We'll have to see how it feels in practice, but on paper it looks like a pretty conservative change.
