This student was in fourth grade. If there is little diversity at your school, expose your students to it at every opportunity. No kid shouldn’t have to feel like an anomaly at school just because the rest of the community lives in a fish tank.

A black student in class today (one of a small handful in our school) had to repeatedly tell various kids to stop pointing out all the black dancers in the segments of “The Hip Hop Nutcracker” we watched today in music.

I honed in on the kids bugging him, but it got me when I heard the student’s tone when he spoke to them, rehearsed and tired, like he spent a lot of time assuring other kids that he knew he was black, they could stop reminding him.

The call to “come follow me” can and should look different for every person because God does not need a church to reach you, nor do you need one to reach Him. At the airport on Saturday in St. Louis. A 60 something gentleman sits next to Craig and I at the gate, but then moves to a spot across from us. I have my earphones in, but several times noticed him zoned out staring in my direction. On the flight, we board before him. 🧵

A) There should be some kind of regulation passed to not let airlines shove so many seats on one aircraft. It is borderline inhumane and even small people are uncomfortable, let alone anyone over 5’7”
