@openbioforge This is great progress. The game is slowly emerging. When it comes to the scripting, did you write a new interpreter for the original scripts or convert them into a modern scripting language?
@DannyHabibs Pretty cool. Now all those people shifting in their seats, straining to look around the corners when they first played Doom in the 90s, finally can 😄
@UnderTheMayo Congratulations. Creating good tutorials and teaching mechanics is one of the hardest challenges in game development. But I think you'll do a great job.
I have been working on decompiling the game logic script files for #Bioforge . It took a bit of time, but I have it all in plain text now. Now I just need an interpreter 😅.
Here are some pics showing a snippet of the game and decompiled versions for Caynan's logic.

@openbioforge Maybe if you lead Caynan down to Mastaba, there will be a reckoning? Or script him to just roam the base and cause havoc among the remaining guards. According to his log, some of them are due for some payback.
@openbioforge Very nice. I'm looking forward to seeing more! I have only recently started to dive into trying to understand the script engine myself. Lots of work, the fun kind.
Working a little more on #Bioforge scene loading. Here are all the characters contained in the first part of the game (internally referred to as CHAOS).
@openbioforge I love to see these updates! Even if they put my own attempts at this to shame ;). So far I have most of the assets figured out and have started looking into loading levels. But it seems that I need to be able to parse the scripts to load collision, which will be a lot of work.
@CadeRageous@qfgbook I always loved games and knew that I eventually wanted to make them. But I think it was seeing Scott Murphy's name in the opening credits for Space Quest 2 that sealed the deal. At 13, I thought some day it would be my name up there. And now it is. Among hundreds of others 😉
Started deciphering the level formats. Still early, but I have made some progress. This is the layout of the first section of the game, the cell block, guard room, elevator hallway and cryo room.

green = cameras
white = items

@sonneveld@fractalmindmike@TheGhoulBabe Sad that I missed most of the stream. Project Firestart is one of my favorite C64 games and blew me away when I saw it 1989. I have to catch the VOD of this.
