There you go. In one interview, Cucurella said more about this project than some people and protests have managed in four years.
Less shouting. More articulation. More conviction.
That, combined with the polls showing most fans aren’t happy, is what actually forces change.
Even I, who try hard to understand the project, agree wholeheartedly with Cucurella here.
I love this interview with @TheAthleticFC, because it will surely hit home. How we react in the summer will shape this project.
I believe Cucurella was very intentional about his choice of words.
Chelsea legend Claude Makélélé shares his thoughts on the club's current situation.
💬 "Big clubs always come back. I hope Chelsea comes back."
What do you think, Chelsea fans? Will Chelsea return to the top under Xabi Alonso? 👇
Todd Boehly wants to turn Chelsea into an NFL-style cash machine. 🏟️🇺🇸
He has called European stadiums “utilitarian” and wants a “Jerry World” model, active 300 days a year with concerts, events, and hospitality.
Chelsea’s matchday revenue (~£76-80m) lags behind Spurs (£117m+) and Arsenal (£130m+). Without a modern super-stadium, sustaining £100m+ signings long-term under PSR is tough.
Recent reports suggest a new build could take until 2042.
Upgrade Stamford Bridge, move (Earls Court?), or a massive mistake? Stamford Bridge forever or a shiny 65k mega-arena? 👇
Every Chelsea transfer target has to be a fancy name, otherwise, “he’s not good enough.”
If a player isn’t trending on social media or carrying a superstar label, then he can’t improve a team.
Fair point. There's definitely a market for blind loyalty too. My point is simply that negativity often travels faster and gets rewarded more aggressively than balanced takes. Both extremes can grow an audience.
You do you, bro. Personally, I prefer to keep an open mind and engage with people across the spectrum, even when we disagree.
And hey, I don't recall ever saying the owners were saints. More importantly, I don't run an echo chamber. 😂

Opinion: I think the most dangerous thing about the Chelsea FC online community is that objectivity doesn’t pay, but negativity does immensely.
Don’t believe me? Try questioning everything the club does to the extreme and watch how quickly your account grows.
Valid point on what we lose defensively, but it's about shifting the tactical balance. Alonso's system relies heavily on hyper-aggressive, creative wingbacks who act as supplementary wingers in transition.
Cucu behaves like a traditional/inverted fullback, and his 7.7% progressive carries hold back the attack. Cambiaso’s data (93.3% completed crosses, 83.8% progressive carries) gives us the exact elite final-third production and line-breaking dynamism needed to explode down that flank.
It's a massive profile shift, but it's the exact blueprint the system requires.
@ChelseaPerspect It's not the name that's coming in. It's the player to be replaced. Sometimes,we, as fans, out of excitement, forget the outgoing players just because of some random players. No matter how we see it, if Cucu is not replaced well, it's going to hit us like a tsunami.
Chelsea’s squad is bloated with high-potential but chronically unavailable players (Fofana, Lavia, Badiashile especially). The constant injuries force Enzo & Caicedo to play every minute, which is unsustainable.
Selling them one by one makes sense — availability is the biggest skill in modern football. Garnacho and Delap also need serious scrutiny if they’re not delivering.
Neto is worth keeping for now, he’s one of the few creating danger. Tosin has been decent too when given chances.
Clear the deadwood gradually, or the same cycle continues.
