Dr. L. L. Zamenhof dreamed of a world united by communication and understanding. His vision lives on through Esperanto and the global efforts to foster linguistic equality! #esperanto#zamenhof#esf#esperanticstudiesfoundation
For the record, I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. This is the most beautiful world any of us will ever be born into. Every day is full of mundane majesty and sparkling whispers of something better than everything. The time I’ve spent in Israel since October has been transformative. From experiencing rocket attacks to threats of annihilation, I’ve grown and live life better. The night Iran attacked was one of the funniest evenings of my life. The joy and laughter of my tribe is something some people will never understand. There are deep mystic chords of family between people I’ve never met but who would have stood alongside me at Sinai. Some people won’t know what it’s like to be in a tribe. Racists will try to paint this as aloof and exclusionary - but there’s no reason why people can’t love their family. And Jews are my family. You hopefully have your extended family. I have mine - it just happens to be my tribe. I can sit with Jews whose family were exiled to Ethiopia, Iraq, Yemen, Morocco, India, Russia - and the separation has changed our appearances - but we come back home to Israel and we know each other - our insides haven’t changed. And I have zero fears or doubts about our future. The idea that we’re not gonna win and have beautiful lives is the most irrational thing I can think of. And when I see our enemies investing so much energy into trying to be hostile I feel detached curiosity. It’s strange seeing their misplaced belief that one more act of cruelty will somehow finish us. They don’t get it. We’ve only just started. The Jewish renaissance has been going on for 3500 years and hasn’t run out of steam. Endlessly innovative, endlessly creative, endlessly excited by the story that we get to write. The glow from the burning bush still warms our lives and the hunger for revelation it has instilled in us still motivates, exhilarates and scintillates our souls. So when I see our enemies make animals of themselves in the futile belief they can devour all this, I just see it as a very bizarre and silly way for them to use their time on earth. They are losing out on so much of what this experience of life can be. In short: it’s a fucking fantastic life. It’s the best life any of us will ever know. We are all so blessed to be in the game.
One of the spokespeople for the UCLA protesters explains their end goal is for “more than divestment.” She says, “Given that the University of California is founded on colonialism, it’s inherently a violent institution.” She argues the UC system is linked to both foreign wars and domestic police brutality and demands this be addressed.
She’s saying the quiet part out loud. They intend to dismantle our domestic institutions. The Palestinian cause is just a warmup.
Amnesty International rewriting the history of a man who kidnapped, tortured and killed an Israeli and making him sound like a peaceful political prisoner. Orwell would be proud.
Part of educating myself after October 7th has been coming to understand a lot of institutions I trusted like the UN have an overwhelming anti-Israel bias.
Something significant is happening here: a large group of Arabs and allies showed up at a synagogue in New Jersey chanting “we don’t want Israelis here”. It’s a turning point — an entrenched authentic minority American group is being chased out by new arrivals, all with implicit approval of American institutions.
The State of the World’s 7,168 Living Languages: Today, over 88 million people speak endangered languages. But what constitutes an “endangered” language, and how do we revitalize them? #langtwt
