Journalists in this country have to endure so much. It takes an immense toll on your mental health. I take my hats off to all journalists and the hard and gruelling work they undertake to bring the truth to light.
Myself and other journo's have intense PTSD from stories we covered. Journalism takes a thick skin, but I am an intensely caring person, and there was only so much I could handle before cracking at the seams.
I went coco-loco, and decided to take a break from journalism, the news and re-direct my energies into studying more. Did a PR certificate at UCT, got a certificate in Marketing and then decided to finish my studies to become a qualified teacher. I am now teaching full-time.
