Told the players today that I resigned my coaching position for next yr to focus on my health. Kidney stones, gout, high blood pressure and bad knees made it really hard to coach and enjoy life. Not retiring but taking a yr off to get healthy. I want to coach again in the future
Congratulations to the Cheney Cardinals on winning the Central Plains League title. The Cards have won 11 in a row and stand at 16 -6 as the postseason begins next week.

Yesterday Sr night at Cheney for these 3 Sr's. We started a new tradition where the player ask a teacher/ coach if they would wear their name and number T shirt for the day. The person they ask would be someone who has impacted their life in a positive way. Super proud Coach
Super excited that on Saturday 25 of us will be going to Stillwater to attend the OSU vs TCU basketball game. This will be the 4th time we have had this opportunity and has always been fun.
Pizza Night last Friday. We were able to hand out 7 Large Pizzas to our student body, cheerleaders, and band. We appreciate all you do and just wanted to say Thanks for all you do. A big reason for our success is because of you.
A couple days late but just wanted to say Congratulations to this group who Won the Rupp Tournament last week. I couldn't be prouder of these players and coaches. Lots of work left but we might be getting better at the right time of the year.
As one of my former players use to say at tight circle in the middle ...

Sports in Kansas 3A Baseball Player of the Year: Josh Burdick of Cheney. Burdick finishes one of the better 3A multiple sports careers in Kansas history as a three sport all state athlete, recently named the Kansas Shrine Bowl MVP as well in all classes from his small 3A high school. More known to many as an all state and state champion QB in football, heโs also taking home top 3A honors in baseball (along with Co-POY Eli Dean of Perry Lecompton). Burdick, who doubles as a pitcher and catcher, hit .511 this season with 45 hits, 31 RBI, eight doubles, four triples and four home runs in one of the best small school leagues in Kansas that featured 3A state champion Wichita Trinity. He was his conference Player of the Year. Burdick nearly doubled his average from last year after a down season. It didnโt stop as a standout catcher and hitter either as Burdick struck out 54 batters in 44 innings, walking only nine this season with a 1.91 ERA. He was also a 3A all state pick in basketball and the non senior POY in football from SIK as a junior in 2023 fall after leading his team to their first ever state championship. He will play quarterback at Emporia State next season. #sportsinkansas photo: Andrea McDaniel
