- โรคหลอดเลือดสมอง ชนิดที่ทำให้เสียชีวิตเฉียบพลันมักเป็นแบบแตก คือเลือดออกในสมองจากความดันโลหิตสูงที่คุมไม่ได้ หรือหลอดเลือดสมองโป่งพองแตก
- โรคของหลอดเลือดแดงใหญ่และปอด หลอดเลือดแดงใหญ่ปริเซาะ (aortic dissection) หลอดเลือดแดงใหญ่ในช่องท้องโป่งพองแตก และลิ่มเลือดอุดตันในปอดเฉียบพลัน
