The Great Chepsaita Cross Country Run in Uasin Gishu County this morning is exciting for me- Droves of children determined to run, grab and secure their future is a great motivation and source of joy.
It is the best gesture from the tender souls, whose talent we want to harness and nurture to fly our flag high in future.
Their turning up to run in their form is a show that they want to be part of our plan of moulding and shaping their future for a productive and prosperous Nation.
With the Marathon seeking to also raise awareness towards fighting illicit alcohol, doping, drugs and substance abuse, the youngsters are our ambassadors, for self and their peers.
We will invest in such inspiring Champions whose desire to secure our Nation's future goes beyond the run today.
We thank the Patron of the Marathon Farouk Kibet, Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, the Host, Governor Jonathan Bii Koti Moja, the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports and the Arts Ababu Namwamba, his Cooperatives Counterpart Simon Chelugui, World Marathon Champion Eliud Kipchoge, Governor Wesley Rotich (Elgeyo Marakwet), Governor Stephen Sang (Nandi), National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungw'a, Principal Secretaries Harry Kimtai (Health) and Belio Kipsang (Education) and senators Boni Khalwale (Kakamega), Samson Cherargei (Nandi) and John Methu (Nyandarua) president of Athletics Kenya Jackson Tuwei.
