Honestly I'm surprised it took them this long to redesign a move, this was pretty common in RoA1, especially when a new character was added

What I am surprised at is this is an entirely new move, not a tweak or redesign, a whole ass different move

To add to this, Tenzin having a more traditional beard than Aang is probably due to the pressure of being the only other Airbender for his whole childhood and probably a good portion of his adult life, so he had to carry the weight of a whole way of life with him after Aang died

My personal headcannon as to why Aang got the chinstrap beard and not a more traditional Air Nomad beard was because he was influenced by Katara to have similar facial hair to the men of the water tribe
He's got similar facial hair to Hakoda, Tonraq, Kuruk, and even old Sokka
