When I worked at a retirement home, I had to practice accommodation for some of their communication styles. It was often non-assertive accommodation where I was trying to dispel stereotypes. Because I acted like myself and I wasn’t “immature” or “stupid” they loved me #COMM2870

When I communicate with people of the opposite gender I often feel like I am a teacher. I try to never push my ideas on anyone but if they show interesting the same ideas as me then I try to explain my position or thought process on the issue or topic. #COMM2870

@amonrage I agree, agenda-setting theory is definitely still relevant and prevalent, especially with Facebook. There are always ads that are populated specifically for the user based on their preferences and previous searches. Social media may have changed AST but it still exists #COMM2870

I believe that the agenda-setting theory is still relevant today because social media platforms funnel attention to the topics that are most relevant to the user. I have seen gatekeeping on YouTube - videos that you may like pop up based on what you’ve watched before #COMM2870
