This is unfortunate but I feel as though it is seen this way because when you are a minority when someone takes major pride in this race it is usually thrown in our face with a negative agenda behind it . https://t.co/IGw5zJytYe
“When race is articulated or emphasized for Whites, it is more likely to be seen as threatening to Whites than allowing them to embrace their own race or national roots with pride.” -pg.114 #NQSoc221

@BriMorgan1997 The way media portrays everything they only usually show the earthy white people to continue to display the theme of “white Privilege” media only shows what they want you to be aware of they don’t display the struggling class of whites because that would then put whites and
“White is typically conceived in terms of economic and social advantage and residence in predominantly white affluent areas” pg. 420 ..but then what happens to the racial identity of white people that don’t fit into that group? #NQSoc221
@jayladanyelle1 This is very interesting and I also find it very interesting that the crime that is reported is usually more than likely dealing with minorities
@seherman23 This is very true and sadly the way that the minority is presented on the screen is very different than when a white person is showed while these stories are being covered .
"The regular coverage of crime by television news coupled with the dominance of episodic framing constitutes a strong implicit signal that members of minority groups are prone to engage in violent crime." (p. 262) #NQSoc221
"There is ample evidence of media agenda-setting with respect to crime; over the past two decades Americans have regularly identified crime as among the three most important problems facing the country." (p. 260) #NQSoc221
"The meanings attached to racial identity are difficult for many people to articulate, but the way racial identities play out in everyday interactions between people of different races can have powerful implications for race relations." (p. 417) #NQSoc221
"negative stereotypes of poor and working-class whites who live among blacks has everything to do with the overarching racist paradigm governing urban America." (p. 421) #NQSoc221
