“Patriarchy gives us different expectations and standards for men and women. I mean, does anyone think a woman with no political experience, tattoos and a history of alcohol abuse who said dumb things on the internet would be able to raise tens of millions of dollars and become a major party Senate candidate?" https://t.co/AS1WAOlYrq
When I heard about Senator Graham’s death last night, the first thing I thought about was not all the things he said and did in service of Donald Trump. I thought of the time before Donald Trump when he was a brother to Senator John McCain.
A time when senators from different parties could fight about politics and still be friends. A time when a conservative Republican from South Carolina could say of my father: “If you can’t admire Joe Biden as a person, you’ve got a problem. He’s the nicest person I’ve ever met in politics. As good a man as God ever created.”
That is the Senator Graham I will remember today. Not because I have forgotten what came after. Because in that memory there is hope. Hope for a country where brothers can fight like hell over policy and still share a meal, and a laugh, and the loss of the people they love.
I will choose to remember the time before Trump. Because I believe in an America after Trump.
The vast majority of Americans want to live in a country where immigrants who do everything right aren’t yanked out of line by federal agents right before they swear an oath to become citizens.
Pete Hegseth reposted this CNN segment about a pastor who says women shouldn’t vote: “In my ideal society, we would vote as households. I would ordinarily be the one to cast the vote…” said the pastor
Totally normal. Not crazy at all.
🚨 NYT: Crucial positions at the local offices of the National Weather Service were unfilled as severe rainfall inundated parts of Central Texas on Friday morning, prompting some experts to question whether staffing shortages made it harder for the forecasting agency to coordinate with local emergency managers as floodwaters rose.

Just days ago, a Republican member of Congress dumped stock in a Medicaid provider company right before voting to strip healthcare away from 17 million Americans.
This is why we need to BAN STOCK TRADING now!
No elected official should be trading stocks while making decisions that impact our country.

RFK JR: We are completely committed to solving the problem of Alzheimer's.
Barragan: You are proposing to cut $1.2 billion from the agency that conducts Alzheimer's research.
Every time I post about ICE tactics, I get replies, “This is what I voted for.”
Really? You voted for a mother crying for mercy while her child is still in school—about to come out and find her missing?
There isn’t another way to go about this that preserves our humanity?
