Pray for strength, protection, direction, and encouragement that can only be found when we're hungry students of the Lord.
Morning after morning, bow your head and humbly pray: "Teach me your way, O Lord, and lead me on a level path." (Psalm 27:11)
It is a great comfort to a believer, when his prayer is weak, and he can hardly pray for himself, that Christ's prayer in heaven is mighty and powerful.
Dear Unconverted Man,
You have planned for tomorrow, tomorrow, and tomorrow, but have not made any room for eternity. Your soul even now is hastening to the bar of God. Every heartbeat is a step toward that great tribunal where every excuse evaporates, and every mouth is stopped. There you will not be asked what career you built, what pleasures you tasted, or what reputation you acquired, but whether you were found in Christ.
Think not that your indifference will excuse you. To neglect the Son of God is to reject Him. To postpone repentance is to choose rebellion for another day.
O sinner, why will you die? What has Christ done that you should so despise Him? He stretched out His hands all day long to a rebellious people. He received publicans, harlots, thieves, and blasphemers who came to Him in faith. Never has He cast out one broken sinner who sought mercy.
But do not presume upon another sunrise. The door of grace stands open today, not forever. The Judge before whom you must soon stand now offers Himself as your Savior. Flee, then, from the wrath to come. Lay hold of Christ by faith. Forsake your sins. Bow before His scepter while mercy is still extended.
For the same Christ who now says, "Come unto me," will one day say, "Depart from me." Which word you hear for eternity depends upon what you do with Him today. Fly to Christ, dear reader.
For men have no taste for [God’s power] till they are convinced of their need of it and they immediately forget its value unless they are conditionally reminded by awareness of their own weakness. ---John Calvin.
I've seen a list of 10 families from Grace Community Church who have lost their homes in the firestorms. I'm certain there'll be more. The church has started a relief fund. If you're a GCC member or friend of our ministry who'd like to donate, go here:

@pj_schreiner I heartily endorse sharing a Greek word one week and a Hebrew word the next; God may raise up our kids and youth and adults to the calling of missions and translation work; why bury this Great Commission labor to only 1% of Seminary grads, may God raise up 100 Tyndales.
@chesscom Can someone tell me if these guys have to pay entry fees and how much they are; also to contemplate 10+ days in a hotel, plane trips, car rentals, jet lag-- it can be very exhausting. 18 in a year? that is a lot.
@chesscom a.) 20 seconds after move 60 in classical; I don't like knocking over 4 pieces w/ 3 sec. increments. Perhaps GMs shouldn't get increments cause by that level of ability their "learning phase" is completed, for them it should be about "performance" even with less increment.
@JeffreyPerry09 I think there is a way to complete 2 pages, take a 60 second pause to break away from manuscript, look everyone in the eye and make conversational observations like a commercial; then go back to reading; The breaks may be after 4 subpoints, instead of "by the page."
@GeraldMarkJames I used to live in Norwood, Albemarle, Oakboro; I wish I was ordained in Presby; but am in SBC; at age 50 life hasn't allowed me to switch; so getting turned down does hurt; but 90% of the SBC is nowhere I want to accept anyhow; also too rare to find openings in a 1689;
