@CWainscottMKE @dawczerw@jordenvforeest It's about audience and exposure. Money comes from partnerships and entry fees. There is a business, no charity. The organizer should put some food on the table back home. If your name attracts people, then I can sell the event. Otherwise, pay the fee and play for glory/prizes
@dawczerw@jordenvforeest Exactly! Stop asking and offer a business instead. If you bring audience and entries, you get paid. You make me money, and I pay you. Otherwise, it is just charity
@durarbayli Forget about asking and say something about what you OFFER. Why should someone pay you like รฎn 2000 euro in transport and accomodation? Why should I have you in the tournament instead of Andreea Botez? Only financial reasons, please, not a soap story.
@FIDE_chess Or maybe the rating is useless in the current landscape? This number means nothing and measures nothing. Is it used only to fool the amateurs and the guys who decide some tactics are for xxx rating.

@GMSokolovIvan@lachesisq@Dubovdaniel15@FIDE_chess It's acceptable to avoid the fight if both opponents have a clear benefit. Swiss and RR events will have such situations as long as they exist.
Only KO format guarantees the fight in any situation.
But please, don't say it loud, and make fun of it like an infant.
@GMJacobAagaard Another scenario could be to get rid of any rating/ranking and implement a dense array of official team/individual competitions in all territories with the purpose to give a World Champion. Like in football, handball etc.
@GMJacobAagaard I'm a promoter of a Live ranking, not perennial rating who creates ELO silos, but then we will need to have recommended events for getting Ranking Points. We will not have a World Champion anymore.
Leningrad, Nov. 1975. 12-yr-old Garry Kasparov is in play v. ex-World Champion Vasily Smyslov in the annual event that pitted top Soviet GMs v. teams of Young Pioneers, each representing their native cities, in clock simultaneous displays.

1/2 I was completely crushed in my game today. This is not to accuse my opponent of anything, who played an amazing game and deserved to win, but honestly, as soon as I saw my opponent was wearing a watch early in the game, I lost my ability to concentrate.
