Strong southerly winds will develop in and along Cook Strait on Thursday and continue into Friday, with the potential for gusts >100 km/h (🔴).
Some of the places expected to see the strongest winds include Wellington, Marlborough Sounds, and Taranaki.

Last night Firefighters on the #Darlene3Fire successfully lined and completed firing operations on the new growth to the east. Current size is 2620 acres with 30% containment.
