MISSING CHILD IN AWKA

The parents of Success Ezenwafor, a pupil of UNIZIK Primary School, Awka, have appealed to the public for help in locating their child after he was reportedly swept away by floodwaters along the Awka–Nibo–Nise–Enugwu-Ukwu Ring Road on Monday morning.

According to reports, Success was travelling in a shuttle bus with other schoolchildren when the incident occurred. Search efforts are ongoing, while his family is urging anyone with useful information to contact the nearest police station or emergency authorities.

WHY IS THE WORLD SILENT ABOUT THE SUFFERING OF OUR CHILDREN

I ask this question today with tears in my heart as a father, as a pastor, and as a voice crying out for the persecuted Christians of Nigeria

Success is only six years old

Just six years

At an age when this little girl should be running around with her friends, going to school, laughing with her mother and dreaming about her future, she is instead carrying wounds and memories that no child should ever have to carry

When armed militants attacked her Christian community in Kaduna, Nigeria, nine people were reportedly killed

As Success and her mother ran for their lives, trying desperately to escape the gunfire, this innocent little girl was shot twice

Once in the back

And once in the foot

Can you imagine the pain

Can you imagine the fear in the heart of a six year old child hearing gunshots while running for her life

Can you imagine a mother watching her little daughter being wounded while knowing there was nothing she could do to stop the bullets

Her injuries were so severe that doctors had to remove part of her ankle bone during emergency surgery

Today, Success is still fighting to recover

She needs reconstructive ankle surgery and a skin graft to have the best chance of walking normally again

My heart breaks when I look at this child

I keep asking myself

Why should a six year old child have to suffer like this

Why should she know the meaning of gunshots before she even understands the meaning of life

Why should children be paying the price for violence they did not create

Why is the world silent

Why are the tears of Nigerian children not receiving the attention they deserve

How many more children must be wounded

How many more children must become orphans

How many more families must bury their loved ones

How many more innocent lives must be destroyed before the world says enough is enough

The Bible says in Proverbs 31:8

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute

Today I am speaking for Success

I am speaking for the children who cannot speak for themselves

I am speaking for mothers who have watched their children suffer

I am speaking for families who have buried their loved ones in silence

And I am asking the world not to look away

Jesus said in Matthew 19:14

Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven

Look at Success

She is somebody's daughter

She is somebody's precious child

She has dreams

She has a future

She has a life worth protecting

She did not choose violence

She did not choose this suffering

She only tried to survive

Now she needs help to walk again

As Rev Ezekiel Dachomo, I appeal to the conscience of humanity

Please do not allow the suffering of these children to become another forgotten story

Let us pray for Success

Let us pray for her mother

Let us pray for every wounded child

Let us pray for the families who have lost loved ones

And let us pray for Nigeria

Because when a six year old child suffers like this, humanity itself must stop and ask

What have we become

May the Lord heal Success

May God restore her strength

May God provide the treatment she needs

And may the day come when this little girl can walk, run and play again without pain

How long, O Lord

How long will innocent children continue to suffer

How long before the world hears their cries

A woman has just given birth.

Everybody is happy. Then suddenly, she starts bleeding.

This is postpartum haemorrhage, and when it happens, no one has time to ask where the drug, tranexamic acid or TXA is.

That drug, Tranexamic acid can help reduce deaths from bleeding when it is given early after PPH starts.

So if a facility is providing emergency obstetric care, TXA should not be something they start looking for when the emergency has started.

It should be there.

As a man, if your wife is preparing to give birth, ask if the facility has TXA available. Same thing if you’re pregnant and preparing for delivery.

Ask questions. Know what is available.

Prepare before the emergency comes.

Hello everyone, please, I urgently need your help and attention. My sister and other NYSC corps members who left Bayelsa State yesterday were attacked along the Kogi Express Road. Sadly, the driver was killed, and the corps members were reportedly taken into the forest.

Up until now, we have not heard from them, and the family is deeply worried and devastated. We have contacted the police, but unfortunately, we have not received any positive feedback yet.

Please, I am appealing to the NYSC, the Federal Government, security agencies, and everyone who can help to urgently intervene and do everything possible to rescue them safely.

Please, we don’t want anything to happen to our loved ones. . They are someone’s children, siblings and loved ones. Their lives matter.

Fr. Emmanuel Ezema of the Catholic Diocese of Zaria, Nigeria was kidnapped on December 2, 2025. Today, August 26, 2026, marks 267 days since he was taken and he remains in captivity.

267 days is far too long. We cannot allow his captivity to become another forgotten story. The Nigerian government must intensify every effort to secure his safe release and bring him home. Our priests and citizens deserve to live and serve without fear.

Dear Compatriots,
Members of the Press,

Distinguished ladies and gentlemen,

Wednesday, 19 August 2026, marked the official start of the campaign period for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections.

There is no doubt that this is a defining moment for our democracy. This moment gives Nigerians the opportunity to assess the records, ideas, and plans of those seeking their mandate to lead their country at a time of grave uncertainty in our rapidly changing world.

I consider myself quite privileged to be one of those seeking your mandate to deal with these challenges facing our country.

I enter this contest with one firm conviction: Nigeria can work, and Nigeria must work.

Nigeria faces several serious challenges. Some of them are indeed of existential proportions.

According to the IMF, 63%, or over 140 million Nigerians, live at or below the national poverty line, while humanitarian agencies estimate that 35 million people will need food assistance during the 2026 lean season. About 3.6 million Nigerians remain internally displaced, largely because of conflict and insecurity. Each year, millions of young people enter the labour market, yet too many struggle to find productive opportunities. Weak infrastructure, unreliable power, insecurity, and the excessive cost of doing business continue to burden households and constrain enterprise.

These are more than statistics. They reflect the daily realities of Nigerian families, farmers, workers, students, and businesses.

Yet I do not believe Nigeria lacks the ability to overcome these challenges. We have the people, resources, market, talent, and enterprise. What we must do now is turn these strengths into security, productivity, and shared prosperity.

LEADERSHIP MUST DELIVER RESULTS

My successful private-sector experience, studies in institutions of repute on policy and business matters, and my service as Governor of Anambra State have shaped my understanding of public leadership. Government must manage resources responsibly, set clear priorities, and measure the outcomes of its decisions. Public office is not a reward; it is a responsibility to the people.

In Anambra, I prioritised the foundations of long-term development: education, healthcare, infrastructure, fiscal discipline, and institutional capacity. I do not present that record as perfect, but as an experience from which Nigerians can draw their own conclusions.

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso brings a different but complementary governing experience.

As Governor of Kano State, he focused strongly on education, technical training, scholarships, infrastructure, and human-capital development. His administration’s investments in education and skills showed an understanding that the people are a state’s most important long-term resource.

Our experiences are different, but our conclusion is the same: Nigeria must invest in its people and manage public resources with discipline.

BUILDING AN ECONOMY THAT WORKS

Nigeria needs more than reactive reforms. We must focus on the questions that matter:

Are Nigerians better off than they were four years ago? Can they afford food, education, and healthcare? Can businesses produce, expand, and create jobs? Can young people find productive work? Can farmers work safely and get their produce to market?
