What Does 100%+ Revenue Growth Really Mean?
A company reporting 100% or higher revenue growth has more than doubled its sales compared to the same quarter last year. Such growth is undoubtedly encouraging and indicates that something significant is happening in the business.
However, high revenue growth alone does not make a company a great investment. Before investing, always study the complete business.
Things you should always analyze:
▪️ Whether the growth is sustainable or a one-time event.
▪️ Growth in EBITDA and Net Profit, not just revenue.
▪️ Improvement in operating margins and profitability.
▪️ Management commentary and conference call insights.
▪️ Order book, customer additions and future demand visibility.
▪️ Cash flow generation and balance sheet strength.
▪️ Debt levels and working capital management.
▪️ Valuation - an excellent business can still be an expensive stock.
▪️ Industry outlook, competitive advantages and long-term growth prospects.
Many companies can post extraordinary quarterly numbers because of a low base effect, acquisitions, or one-off transactions. Therefore, never make an investment decision based on just one quarter's performance. Always evaluate the business from a long-term perspective.
