Michael Jackson subió al escenario solo. Sin bailarines de apoyo. Sin pirotecnia. Sin un ejército de pantallas. Solo un hombre con una chaqueta con lentejuelas, un solo guante, un sombrero fedora y una canción que el mundo ya creía conocer.

Entonces se movió.

Cuando deslizó hacia atrás por el suelo, la sala no aplaudió al principio. Se congeló. La orquesta siguió tocando, pero algo en el aire había cambiado. Lo que estaban viendo aún no tenía un nombre que perteneciera a la cultura popular. No era un truco. No era coreografía en el sentido ordinario. Era un cuerpo reescribiendo la gramática del espectáculo en tiempo real.

Ese fue el primer moonwalk público.

La gente aún habla de la técnica. Deberían hacerlo. La precisión era aterradora. Cada acento en Billie Jean vivía en sus hombros, sus rodillas, sus muñecas. No bailaba con la música. Hacía visible la música. Sin embargo, la técnica no es la razón por la que el clip aún detiene a la gente cuarenta y tres años después.

La verdadera conmoción vino después.

En el backstage, Michael lloró. Pensó que el congelamiento en sus pies había sido demasiado corto. Creía que había fallado en ese momento. El público acababa de presenciar una de las actuaciones en vivo más electrizantes en la música popular. Los periódicos explotarían a la mañana siguiente. Una carrera se inclinaría de superestrella a mito. Y el hombre que lo hizo estaba decepcionado de sí mismo.

Esa brecha es el alma del video.

La grandeza a menudo se imagina como confianza. Esta actuación sugiere lo opuesto. Las personas que cambian el lenguaje de una forma de arte son frecuentemente aquellas que no pueden dejar de medirse contra un estándar invisible que nadie más puede ver. El mundo recibió un milagro. Él recibió una lista de imperfecciones.

Míralo ahora, en 2026, en un teléfono, en un feed lleno de efectos y filtros y cortes perfectamente sincronizados. La imagen es antigua. El sonido es imperfecto. Nada de eso importa. El clip aún produce la misma reacción física: un apretamiento en el pecho, una quietud, la sensación de que llegas tarde a algo sagrado.

Ya no es solo un extracto de concierto. Es evidencia de que un ser humano, sin ayuda digital y sin un ejército detrás, puede sostener toda una era en su lugar durante cuatro minutos.

Eso es lo que perdura. No la chaqueta. Ni siquiera el moonwalk en sí. La prueba de que la presencia puede ser más poderosa que la producción.

BREAKING: A South Sudanese national identified only as GNHW bashed a triple amputee Australian with the victim’s own crutch, 77 times to the head.

He pinned the man’s only remaining limb so he couldn’t defend himself.

The brutal attack lasted 4 minutes 51 seconds in Dandenong, Victoria.

The judge called it a shocking assault on a defenceless, vulnerable victim.

Then turned around and only sentenced him to 24 months jail.

His “Humanitarian” visa was cancelled.

Then Tony Burkes NZYQ directive put this South Sudanese man back on the street on a bridging visa.

Since his release, police have interviewed over an alleged sexual assault and an alleged theft.

He was ordered to abstain from alcohol but started drinking again within a day.

He has a history of grabbing a female officers by the neck and trying to headbutt staff.

Now the Federal Court has ordered the tribunal to reconsider giving him a “protection visa”

The argument?

“Visa stress”

Lawyers say a restrictive bridging visa makes him “more of a risk” to Australians.

A permanent protection visa would reduce stigma, open uni loans, and potentially NDIS support, and that, they say, would help rehabilitation.

Sound familiar? Well it should, this is the second case like this in a fortnight.

A Sierra Leone man convicted of indecently assaulting a 16 year old boy used the same “visa stress” line.

Can’t send him back to South Sudan.

Why? That’s where he is from.

So, the system is being asked to upgrade the visa of a violent South Sudanese offender because cancelling it might stress him.

Tony Burke’s office had this to say: “the visa was cancelled by the department, so that’s why it’s in court” knowing full well he has the ultimate power to overrule it.

Opposition Home Affairs Minister, Jonno Duniam: “stop treating these as one offs”

Ask whether the Migration Act, NZYQ and the tribunal now have a systemic hole.

If risk of reoffending is why you cancel the visa, then the stress of that cancellation becomes the reason to give it back.

That is insane.

Only a Home Affairs Office being run by Tony Bourke can be this incompetent.

Peter Dutton would have sent him packing on the first flight out.
