A patient told me yesterday when talking about his wife,“I don’t love her, I’m in love with her. You can love an item, but I’m in love with her.”This morning I held his hand as he was dying trying to hang on to see his wife. That’s the kinda shit that will make your heart hurt.

@chandler_238 As an ICU nurse,I guarantee you wouldn’t want your parents/grandparents to switch places with these patients if you had any idea what they go through.I’ve been there for too many painful deaths and phone calls to family telling them their family member died for this ignorance.
