@HappyDeeDee75 After that many its less a question of being able to push them out and more a question of how to keep everything else in. Lots of scar tissue
@duns_sc0tus Gentification as a phenomenon occurs whether new construction in an area happens or not. If people want to live in a place and have no better options the poorer locals will be priced out. This is nimbyist gentrification. NIMBYism does not prevent local displacement.
@atheist_bad A really funny use of the word 'cult' here. It is technically a cult in the traditional sense which is just a religion. But you're /saying/ it like you mean scientology or something. The latter comparison is a total false equivalency, but have fun with your quippy word-games.
@WeilToGo I don't think the reception of wealth is the sin. That he won't use it for charity is the sin. But why would being paid in itself be unethical?
I think her mind is kind of going and from the way that she talks(literally her manner of speech/the way that she discusses scripture) I suspect she watches a lot of televangelists at home. But holy fuck. How do people just not hear themselves? Where is she getting this?
Ended up talking with an old woman at my church about Gaza at coffee hour and she brought up some part in Kings where God commands David to wipe out the pagan canaanites. I don't know how to express how disturbing it was to hear this kind old lady directly apologize for genocide.
@nomorestrange Insofar as Jesus is divine, I don't think anyone was saying we can be exactly like him. Insofar as Jesus is perfected humanity, this is the goal of all Christians and will happen to the saved at the resurrection.
