We center working class Chicagoans and movements for justice in our legislative work. We are the Democratic Socialist Caucus of the Chicago City Council.
Alderman @CDRosa delivers!
On top of coming out to support Logan Square workers in the @SBWorkersUnited movement today, he’s also provided the store with some much-needed KN95 masks during this *still ongoing* pandemic
Chicago aldermanic offices are distributing free KN95 masks. 35th Ward residents can pick up free KN95 masks at our office (2934 N. Milwaukee, Unit C) from Monday- Friday, 9am-5pm. Limit 10 per individual.
Look up your ward to see where to pick up masks: https://t.co/MF7J3Ym4H4
The administration is briefing their "Victims Justice Ordinance." In addition to the many reasons the ACLU has already given us to oppose this ordinance, it seems to categorize the City Council as a "streetgang." https://t.co/ftxvof4uPs
We must prioritize data-informed investments for reducing violence, with both immediate and long-term impacts, like we have in the 2022 city budget. I'm committed to implementing these investments as swiftly as possible and building on them for years to come.
“Mayor Lightfoot put off spending the COVID money for half a year, hoping the fed govt would change the rules. Our schools & communities lost precious time bc the mayor was holding out hope that she would get permission to gv our recovery money to banks.”

As a parent of a CPS child, I would be outraged if a school system was not doing everything it could to ensure safety in every school. And as an elected leader I want to have the best possible data in terms of positive cases. An opt out system will help do that. 1/1
Today from 11:30am to 12:30pm! FREE lunch (sandwiches from Albany Park's Dulce de Leche Cafe) for CPS teachers and school staff at @neighbors35th and @33rdWardWorking offices.
Our members canvassed in Hermosa+Avondale today in support of @CTULocal1. Every person we talked to supported remote learning, and was confused why CPS and the mayor canceled school. Want to donate to buy a meal for a teacher? Check the link in our bio! 🍎✊❤️
LA's dist vaccination rate is approx 86%. @ChiPubSchools vax rate is 23%. Whats the difference? We submitted a plan to @chicagosmayor months ago to use 10% of federal funds CPS received to vax all. Perhaps Lightfoot prefers to favor corrupt contracts rather than vaxing our kids.
Just wanted to remind us that this Mayor talking about mental health was the same one that fought teachers and had them strike in the winter in order to get urgently needed social workers & nurses in schools. Thank you @CTULocal1. We stand with you.
Grateful for the chance to bring more of the desperately needed affordable housing to our 33rd ward and ready to do the work to make it happen with our community!
@ChicagoCOPA has released a statement on the Death of Irene Chavez while in the custody of CPD. We are in communication with COPA and will be following up with questions in regards to the incident & investigation.
