Yesterday, the Chicago City Council hit rock bottom when it awarded $13.75M to two men who were originally convicted for their role in a grisly double murder in 1998.

Upon their release from prison, then- Kim Foxx’s First Assistant Eric Sussman declared both men guilty of the crime.

9 years later, Kim Foxx admitted under oath she believed both men were guilty of the crime.

With the exception of Ald. Raymond Lopez, who voted against, every alderman who voted in favor of this settlement should be ashamed of themself.

If Gov Pritzker caves to CTU pressure and declines taking part in the Education Freedom Tax Credit, Illinois could forgo $2 billion in annual support for public and private school families and Illinois taxpayers may spend as much as $1 billion for educational services in other states.

By Illinois refusing to enter into the tax-credit program we are blocking critical resources that are intended for Illinois families and students. Resources that will instead be given to other states.

Teacher union’s opposition to the tax credit program is an admission it’s willing to deny funding for public-school families for such things as tutors, enrichment, special-ed, and early childhood development programs in order to block support for low income private school families.

Gov Pritzker’s failure to opt in is financially irresponsible and a monumental betrayal to Illinois families. Meanwhile, the Bears may not be Illinois only export to Indiana as the state is actively recruiting Illinois taxpayers to take advantage of their federal education tax credit program.
