Inspiring words at the @RPP_Network annual forum from @davidnaff of MERC - we don’t have a research focus, we have partners who have a research focus and we help them execute it.
Unfounded speculation: absenteeism is rising. Is it apathy? Is it exhaustion? No - kids are ACTUALLY staying home when sick now.
Sample size of me, because my hs aged kid had stayed home sick 3 times already when in past years I prob would have made her go to school anyway.
Thank you @RPP_Network for a fantastic #nnerpp23. Met new #RPP friends and reconnected with long time RPPer colleagues. Like Paula, I also ❤️ RPPs and can’t wait to rock my NNERPP tee shirt
Kicking off the final morning of #NNERPP23 with a workshop on Communications, Politics, and Strategic Management w/ special guest @annsearight @RealGoodCenter
Amazing session on youth participation in RPPs. Student researchers uncovered how student experiences contribute to absenteeism. #RPPs#nnerpp23
Let’s elevate opportunities for our students to contribute their knowledge and be partners in our research efforts.
In a #nnerpp23 session in networked RPPs, really interesting discussion about sustainability. Someone raised the question, how can we make the goal (outcome) be that people leave with RELATIONSHIPS, not research projects (since relationships engender sustaining not project/soft$)
@cara__jackson@KiraboJackson In my experience, ISP principals also generally seem happier because they’re given latitude to opt out of several “requirements” that non-ISP principals must do such as some meetings and compliance type things. Being an ISP principal gives more flexibility and latitude.
What are the essentials of establishing an #RPP? A recent study invited RPP leaders from various contexts to share their insights. Seven things to know about starting and maintaining an RPP emerged from their responses: https://t.co/4peg7kVLFI @ChicagoEduc@Education_AIR
So honored to moderate this student leader panel at our @Pk12Restart forum event.
We must listen and learn from our students, who have tremendously important insights, experiences, and perspectives.
"It's sad that teachers don't have a space to talk about their feelings."
Students from DC's Theodore Roosevelt High School share their experiences with school throughout the pandemic. @Pk12Restart facilitated by @ChicagoEduc
As someone who used resources from EdResearch for Recovery to inform pandemic response, I could not be more thrilled about this update and expansion of resources. Amazingly valuable 🔥🔥🎉
Check it out for actionable research based resources!

As schools shift their focus from immediate recovery to longer-term solutions to help students succeed, we are updating our joint initiative with @Results4America from #EdResearch4Recovery to #EdResearch4Action to help state & local leaders address a wider set of edu challenges
Such a great chance to join RESTART Network colleagues during #AERA2023
RESTART Network includes 4 #RPPs focused on pandemic recovery learning working in three states (NC, CA, IL) and one large city district (CPS)
We had a chance to get some of the RESTART Network team members together at the #AIR4Equity luncheon at #AERA2023! There is so much great work going on!
Interesting session today at #AERA about Covid learning recovery. Discussing lowered enrollments, chronic absenteeism and how to adjust assessment use practices. Great chart from @AndrewDeanHo
And, on top of all that, Barbara Easton-Watkins and Janice Jackson talk about their experiences going from principals to system leaders who helped to guide and foster improvement.
I think I forgot how big #AERA is. I’ve been here ten minutes and ran into 6 people I know on the sidewalk. Looking forward to reconnecting in person with folks.
