@esherifftv You'd think people would have at least considered the idea that NASA's just saving its other female astronauts for the actual landing in Artemis IV lol
@andrewpprice Ethics aside, I'm concerned that the increasing reliance on 'AI' image generators will lead to things like concept art becoming increasingly biased towards the kinds of outputs the image generators produce, becoming less varied and creative as a result
@TheGingerBill I finally tried Sublime Text because of this tweet and... good lord, is this what responsiveness is supposed to feel like?! It's like I've been wading through treacle for years and just found my way out
@karl_zylinski I never understood the obsession with speed in a code editor (not to be confused with responsiveness). If you're typing code that fast you're not thinking it through carefully enough imo
@TheGingerBill I wonder how much the people who use LLMs and image generators to fantasise about being artists, scientists, programmers etc. have hindered genuinely useful applications of those technologies
@TheGingerBill It amazes me that so many tech people have so little imagination that they can't understand that the functionality of a terminal (i.e. composing commands and displaying the output) and the ease-of-use of a more graphical interface aren't mutually exclusive
@SebAaltonen Wasting enormous amounts of time and energy for the vast majority just to pretend to save a small amount of time and money for a tiny minority never made any sense
@cmuratori FINALLY SOMEONE MENTIONING THE SCALING EXCUSES
If there's one thing that drives me absolutely mental it's practically any attempt at a discussion involving scaling in a desktop environment
@cmuratori Adding a help screen displaying a list of instructions for the user to execute manually instead of executing them automatically is a very Linux developer thing to do lol
@valigo On a related note, generally learning how computers work and how to write code for them is much easier going from the transistors upwards than from high-level abstractions downwards
