Despite a diagnosis of cancer several years ago, Officer Barber continued his work until recently and fought valiantly until the very end.
Thank you, John, for your service to our department, to the profession of law enforcement and to the Hub City.
We’ll take it from here.
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of one of our own, Officer John Barber.
Officer Barber, who served the citizens of Lubbock more than 18 years, was a respected and well-loved member of the LPD’s Mounted Patrol Unit. In addition to his training of officers and dedication to the department, he was also well known for his leather work and craftsmanship, specifically for Texas Tech’s Masked Rider.
Let's go!
