THE WITNESS

If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater. . . . And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life . . . . — 1 JOHN 5:9,11,12

Faith in God is simply faith in His Word.

Study God’s Word with this determination: I will find out what God says and agree with it. You can’t expect the things of God to work for you if you take sides against His Word. This may mean unlearning certain “religious” ideas. Too often we’ve been religiously brainwashed, instead of scripturally taught.

Find out what God says in His Word regarding: (1) What God has made available for us in His plan of redemption; (2) What the Father is to you; (3) What Jesus is doing for you now at the right hand of the Father; and (4) What the Holy Spirit is doing in you.

Then find out from His Word what God thinks about the following: (1) What He says you are in Christ; (2) Who you are in Christ; (3) What you have because you’re in Christ.

Even though it may not seem real in your life, start confessing, “Yes, that’s mine, according to God’s Word.” You will then find that faith’s confession creates reality.

Confession
I agree with the witness of God. What He says I am, I am. What He says I have, I have.

Treasure Okegbola developed a machine learning model that detects malaria from blood samples.

We ran a live test today, and it was amazing.

She will be training it on other diseases so that people can run quality and free tests in their homes. It can then detect even diseases people may not be aware of.

She says this will be her way of supporting poor families who can’t afford quality healthcare or are afraid to do tests because of cost.

I have always known that Treasure will make a great impact in the world.

All That God Has Is Yours

And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.—LUKE 15:31

Are the resources of God yours? Yes! That being true, you need to find out what He has. When you find out what He has, you know what belongs to you, and you will be closer to enjoying the blessings of God. Does He have forgiveness? Yes! That’s yours. Does He have healing? Yes! And it’s yours too. Does He have poverty or wealth? Wealth! Is He a poor God or a rich God? He’s rich! What does He have? Does He have grace? Yes. Then those things are yours.

All that God has is yours. Who is to blame if you don’t have it? Him? No, He has already told you that it’s yours. How are you going to get it? How are you going to have it in reality? By acting on what He said. In other words, by acting like it’s yours.

The Bible says that we are heirs of God and joint-heirs (equal heirs) with Jesus Christ (Rom. 8:17). Some people say, “Jesus has it all, and God has it all, but we’re just left without anything. We’ll have it after awhile, when we get to Heaven.” The Bible didn’t say that we’re going to be heirs of God. The Bible says that we are heirs of God. All that God has is ours now!

Confession:
I am an heir of God and a joint-heir with Jesus Christ. All that belongs to the Father and all that belongs to Jesus belongs to me now!

One of the most underrated pieces of career advice is to know the best work in your field.

- Read the top five books in your field.
- Know the five most important ideas and debates.
- Follow five people whose thinking consistently teaches or challenges you.
- Read the five publications that shape conversations in the field.
- Watch five films or documentaries that everyone interested in the subject should know.
- Study five organisations or people doing the work exceptionally well.

Then look for the alternatives too.

- Read the strongest arguments against what you believe.
- Pay attention to people approaching the same problems differently.

The number five is obviously arbitrary. You can make it ten. The point is to have a deliberate system for staying intellectually current.

The point is to develop a deliberate habit of exposing yourself to the best ideas and work around what you do.

And do not stop at what you already agree with. Know the strongest alternative arguments. Understand how people approaching the same problems differently think about them.

It is possible to become very good at doing a job without developing a deep understanding of the field itself. That eventually creates a ceiling.

The people who stay ahead tend to know what is changing, what has been tried before, what the important debates are, who is pushing the boundaries, and where new ideas are coming from.

And sometimes the most useful knowledge will come from outside your immediate field. Journalism can learn from technology, economics, history, psychology or business. The same applies elsewhere.

You don’t need to know everything.

But if you want to stay ahead, you should know what the best people in and around your field are thinking about.

THE WORD

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. — ROMANS 10:17

“I just don’t have any faith,” some Christians say. “I’ve prayed and fasted for faith, but I just don’t have any.”
Asking for faith will never produce faith. Why not? Because faith doesn’t come by asking; faith comes by hearing. By hearing what? The Word of God!

Having to encourage Christians to have faith means that the Word of God has lost its reality in their lives. None of the New Testament Epistles encourage believers to have faith. Why not? Because the Epistles were written to the Church. And its individual members are actually born into the family of God. Believers have received the Holy Spirit as their Teacher, Guide, and Comforter. And the measure of their faith will be the measure of their knowledge of the Father — and their knowledge of their privileges.

Simply study the Bible and get acquainted with your Heavenly Father. Walk in the closest possible fellowship with Him. Become familiar with your privileges as His child.

As you become one with the Word, and the Word becomes one with you, you will become mighty in faith.

Confession
As I study the Word of God, I am becoming one with it. I am feeding upon it; I am hearing it; and faith is coming to me.

How to Enjoy the Reality of God’s Word

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.—EPHESIANS 2:8

It took faith for you to become a child of God. By grace you were saved through faith. And the children of God own all that Christ has wrought for them. They own it all!

Now can you understand why Peter said, “. . . by whose stripes ye were healed.”? As far as God is concerned, healing is already yours. You can be certain that if you accept First Peter 2:24 and Isaiah 53:3–5, healing is bound to be manifested in your body.
It’s been a while since we’ve looked at Isaiah 53. Let’s look at that passage again.

ISAIAH 53:3–5

3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and WITH HIS STRIPES WE ARE HEALED.

You may read verse 5 and say, “Yes, but it doesn’t seem real to me.” How is the reality of salvation effected or manifested in your life? By acting on it. All you need to do is meditate and act on the Word.

Confession:
As I act on the Word—as I simply do what the Word says—it becomes a reality in my life. Healing becomes a reality in my life when I act on the words, “BY HIS stripes, we were healed.”

ALIVE

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. — HEBREWS 4:12

To be strong in faith, the first thing you must settle on is the integrity of the Word of God.

You must know that the Bible is exactly what it declares itself to be — God’s Word — a revelation from God to us! It is God speaking to us now! It is not only a book of the past and the future; it is a book for now. It is a God-breathed, God-indwelt, God-inspired message.

Moffatt’s translation of Hebrew 4:12 reads, “For the Logos [Word] of God is a living thing . . . .” Quick! Alive! Living! But it will come alive to you only as you accept it and act upon it.

I’ve always maintained the following attitude toward the Word of God, and have acted upon it accordingly: The Word is just as though the Lord Jesus Christ were here in person speaking to me.

Confession
God’s Word is alive. It is alive in me. God speaks to me through His Word. He gives me revelation through His Word. I accept His Word as though the Lord Jesus Christ Himself were here in person speaking to me. And I act upon it accordingly.

OBEYING YOUR SPIRIT

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. — 2 TIMOTHY 3:16,17

Did you notice that meditating in the Word, practicing the Word, and giving the Word first place — the first three steps in training the human spirit — come before obeying your spirit?
If your spirit has had the privilege of meditating in the Word, of practicing the Word, of putting the Word first, then your spirit is an authoritative guide.

In the process of time, if you will follow the four steps we have just studied, you can know the will of God even in all the minor details of your life!

But for this to happen, God’sWord, not human reasoning, must dominate your thinking. The Word has been given to us by the Holy Spirit. If the Word is dominating us, then the Holy Spirit is dominating our thinking!

The written Word was given to us to develop, shape, form, and fit our spirit nature — and nothing but the Word will accomplish this. Reading about the Word won’t do it. That’s the reason why God wants us to meditate in His Word.

Confession
God’s Word is good. I meditate in God’s Word. I observe to do what His Word teaches. My way shall be prosperous. I shall have good success in life!

Don’t Wait for Evidence to Believe

His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. —JOHN 2:5

In John chapter 2, we see the account of Jesus attending the wedding in Cana with his mother. His mother told Him that they had run out of wine. Jesus said to the servants, “. . . Fill the waterpots with water. . . .” (John 2:7).

Let’s continue reading in John.

JOHN 2:7–10
7 . . . And they filled them up to the brim.
8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

The water became wine. Now what if the servants had stood there and said, “We’re going to stand right here and wait until the water becomes wine and then we’ll start filling these pots”?
Nothing would have happened.

You see, that’s the thing that defeats many Christians. They want to stand around and wait until they can see it done—until they have the sense evidence that things have happened.

In the case of healing, they want to start believing when all the symptoms have disappeared. No, you must believe ahead of time what God says. Act on God’s Word, and then what He has said will become a reality. Because the servants acted on the words of Jesus, a miracle was wrought.

Confession:
I believe what God says before I ever see anything in the natural. I act on God’s Word, and as I do, I see miracles wrought in my life.

DOING PHILIPPIANS 4:7,8

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. — PHILIPPIANS 4:7,8

Many people want what verse 7 talks about, but they don’t want to do what verse 6 says to do in order to get it. In order to get what verse 7 says, you have to practice verse 6, which we studied yesterday.

People who worry and fret, continually think on the wrong side of life. They continually talk unbelief. If something isn’t true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of a good report, then don’t think about it. Make it meet all these qualifications. Some things you hear may be true, but they may not be pure and lovely — so don’t think about them. To do so is to give place to the devil, who is always seeking to enter your thought life. That’s why the Bible says, “Think on these things.”

Meditate and feed on the letters written to the Church. Through them, God speaks to His Church.

Confession
I do not fret or have any anxiety about anything. Therefore, the peace of God keeps my heart and mind through Christ Jesus. I think on those things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of a good report!

God’s Word Is Good

Then said the Lord unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.—JEREMIAH 1:12

I remember another situation in which I had to act on what the banker said. I needed a car that could pull my trailer up mountainous roads. So I bought a 1955 V8 Chevrolet. Well, I didn’t have the money to buy it. I found a salesman who would let me have it at cost. However, instead of letting me have it at cost, it cost him one hundred and fifty dollars to sell it to me.

So I called from California to Garland, Texas, to speak to my banker. I said, “Mr. Mitchell, I am buying a three-quarter ton pick-up truck.” Then I told him the price.

He said, “Wow! There’s got to be some mistake here.”

So the salesman got on the phone with Mr. Mitchell and said, “I’m staying with the figure I gave him. We made a mistake. We figured it wrong. He’s getting the truck at one hundred and fifty dollars less than what we put in it. But I’m a man of my word. I’m going to stay with what I said. He can have it for that price.”

Mr. Mitchell said, “All right. Just give the pick-up truck to him, and I’ll put the check in the mail for you.” Well, I drove that truck away in fifteen minutes. All the salesman and I had was the banker’s word. And all the banker had was my word. But we just acted on one another’s word and enjoyed the benefits thereof!

I wonder if God’s Word is as good as Mr. Mitchell’s word! I wonder if God’s Word is as good as the car dealer’s word! I wonder if God will back His Word up! I wonder if you can depend on what He said! You have to know that God stands by His Word. Then you won’t be afraid to trust Him.

Confession:
I know that God stands by His Word. His Word says that I’m healed, that I’m not sick anymore. So I believe Him. I know that God’s Word works for me.

DOING PHILIPPIANS 4:6

Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. — PHILIPPIANS 4:6 (Amplified)

A minister once came to me for advice. There were many storms in his life, and I felt sorry for him. He couldn’t eat or sleep.

Just to sympathize with him wasn’t enough, so I had to read Philippians 4:6. “But everyone doesn’t have the faith you have,” he told me. “Yes, but they have the same Bible,” I replied, “and it’s a matter of practicing the Word.”

Then I showed him how to practice the Word: I read a verse aloud and then told the Lord, “Your Word is true, and I believe it.” When I first started practicing this verse, I believed I could make my requests known to God, but it was hard for me to believe I could keep from fretting. However, God won’t ask us to do something we can’t do.
So when God said not to fret, this means we can keep from fretting.

So I say aloud, “I refuse to fret or have any anxiety about anything.” Then I bring my requests to the Lord and thank Him for them. This quiets the troubled spirit the devil tried to make me have. If the devil tries to get me to worry again, I simply go back, reread this verse, and keep claiming it.

I am a doer of Philippians 4:6!

REFUSING TO FRET
By Kenneth E. Hagin

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. — PHILIPPIANS 4:6

The Amplified translation of this verse begins, “Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything . . . .”

Christians usually practice only part of this verse — the part that says to pray. But if we practice that part and not the part about not having anxiety, we’re not practicing the Word. We’re not being a doer of the Word.

First, God’s Word says, “Do not fret . . . .” If you’re going to fret and be anxious, it won’t do you any good to make requests. Your prayers will not work.

I read a story years ago about a man, his wife, and grown son, who were in a field chopping cotton. The son wasn’t quite right mentally. Storm clouds appeared, and it began to thunder, but the old man wanted to continue working. Then the lightning became bad. The family began to run for shelter. When it looked as though they weren’t going to make it, the parents fell to their knees and began to pray. “Come on, Ma and Pa,” the boy cried. “A scared prayer ain’t no account.”

There’s much truth to that. That’s what the Spirit of God is saying through Paul. So, when you pray, “Be careful for nothing . . . .”

Make an Effort

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.—JAMES 1:22

Even when God speaks to you, you can choose not to act on it. The bedfast man who was let down through the roof didn’t have to act when Jesus said, “Rise, take up your bed, and walk” (Mark 2:11). He could have refused. But he came for results, so he made an effort to do what Jesus said.
When I was bedfast as a seventeen-year-old boy, the doctors said I had to die. My body was almost totally paralyzed. I couldn’t walk. I wasted away until I weighed only eighty-nine pounds.

When I began to act upon the Scriptures, I heard these words on the inside of me, “Now you believe you’re well. Get up then.” So I pushed my paralyzed body off the bed. I made an effort, just like the man in the Bible who was bedfast.

Well, Jesus still speaks to us today, because He is here in Spirit. He still speaks, just as He spoke to the man and said, “Rise, take up your bed, and walk.” And when He does, if you’ll act upon His Words, you’ll get results, because the written Word is given to us by the Holy Spirit. It’s inspired by the Spirit of God.

Confession:
When God speaks to me, I make an effort. I do what He tells me to do. He speaks to me through His Word, and I obey His Word. Then I receive the blessings that come as a result of obedience.

Obey the Voice of the Lord

And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.—DEUTERONOMY 28:2

After the man who had been burned was healed, I took the next one aside and dealt with him individually. I asked him what was wrong with him. Then I said to him, “The Lord said, ‘Run!’” He whirled around and started running. Eleven out of the twelve were instantly healed as they obeyed God.

When I got to the twelfth one, I said, “Are you ready to run?” I thought she would be just as thrilled as the rest of them were and take off running. Instead, she said, “Oh, Brother Hagin, I can’t run. I have arthritis.”

I said to her, “Didn’t you hear as I talked to the other people? In fact, a woman who couldn’t even walk down to the front by herself was healed. Three men had to hold her up. She had arthritis, too, but as she started to run, her body straightened out and was all right. Did you see her?”

She said, “Yes, but I know I can’t do it.”
I answered, “All I know to do is tell you what the Lord told me. And you saw that eleven people have already been healed.”

She turned around and made one or two feeble steps. I said, “You got down here by yourself. Some of the rest of them had canes and crutches. You don’t even need a cane or a crutch.”

Then, without thinking, I said to her, “Turn around and look at me. You don’t want to run, do you? Something on the inside of you rose up against it, didn’t it?”

She said, “Yes, it sure did.”
I said, “You just go sit down and do without it. You’re not going to get it as long as you’re thinking like that.”

Confession:
I obey the voice of the Lord. I hearken unto His voice, and unto His Word, to do all of His commandments. Then I am blessed. Then I am healed.

God Honors Faith

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.—HEBREWS 11:6

A number of years ago during the early days of the Pentecostal movement, I read about an outstanding healing evangelist. At one particular meeting, there were four people in wheelchairs who had been pushed down to the front. After the evangelist preached and gave the invitation, he walked off the platform and spoke to those in the wheelchairs.

He said to the first one, “I command you to rise and walk in Jesus’ Name.” He just got up and walked out of that chair. The evangelist said to the second one, “I command you to rise and walk in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.” He rose up and walked right out of the chair. Then he said to the third one, “I command you to rise and walk in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.” He got up and walked right out of the chair. The evangelist said to the fourth one, “I command you to rise and walk in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.” And he said, “I can’t. Didn’t you see them push me in here?” The evangelist had to walk off and leave him there.

Some people might say, “If that evangelist healed three of them, why didn’t he heal the fourth one?” The evangelist didn’t heal any of them. The Lord healed three of them. Why didn’t the Lord heal the other one? Because the fourth one didn’t act on what was said.

God honors faith. God is a faith God. He operates on principles of faith. Find out how God works and work with Him. Then you’ll get results.

Confession:
I act on what God said in His Word. God honors faith. He is a faith God. I choose to cooperate with Him and act on principles of faith. Then I see results.

PERCEPTION

Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them, And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives. — ACTS 27:9,10

Paul didn’t say, “I’ve got a revelation,” or “the Lord told me,” or “the Lord revealed it to me.” He said, “I perceive.” This was just an inward witness that he had. He perceived something spiritually.

A family of seven went out to eat. The children’s food had already arrived at the table when the father suddenly said, “Let’s rush home. I just have a perception that we should go.” When they arrived, they found that a fire had started in their house. They were able to put it out. If we would become more spirit-conscious, many things could be averted.

“Well, God did that. He had some purpose in it,” people will say. No, we miss it because we don’t listen. If the sailors had listened to Paul, they could have saved the ship and all the merchandise.

God is not an enemy of man; He is trying to help us. He is not working against us; He is working for us.

Confession
The Spirit of the Lord is in me to help me. He is working for me. I perceive His direction and His help spiritually. I am spirit-conscious.
