@PolymarketSport All group stage games at the last World Cup in 2022 were $69 for a Category 3 ticket. And there were lots of good Category 3 seats, mostly down low in the corners and behind the goals. And they didn’t sell out! Now nosebleed seats are suddenly costing 10 times more? It’s a scam!

@TheAthleticFC@AdamCrafton_@HenryBushnell Way too expensive. A ticket to the opening match at the last World Cup was around $200, and that was already the highest ever. So, now they are charging more than $1, 000 to sit in the last row in an 80,000 seat stadium. No thanks.
Some 2026 World Cup games just aren't selling at the rate FIFA would like them to.
That applies to games like New Zealand vs Egypt. Uzbekistan vs DR Congo. Saudi Arabia vs Cape Verde.
And, remarkably, the United States' opener against Paraguay.

@nytimes@TheAthleticFC Prices of World Cup tickets have been going up, keeping up with inflation. Category 1 tickets to the final for the last 3 World Cups were approximately $1,100 in 2014, $1,500 in 2018, and $1,600 in 2022. A Category 1 ticket to the final in 2026 is $11,000. That is not inflation.
When the 2026 World Cup was announced for the United States back in 2018, I told myself there was no way I’d miss it. I was going to be there in person, experiencing a World Cup on home soil and I know so many of you felt the exact same way.
Fast forward to now, and the ticket prices are completely astronomical. Outrageously unaffordable. What was supposed to be the dream of a lifetime has been priced out of reach for regular fans like me. I’m going to miss watching my country host the biggest event in sports… something I may never get to experience again in my lifetime.
Yes, they’re going to make money off this massive event on U.S. soil. But the greed has gone too far. It’s ruining the beautiful game and turning it into something only the wealthy can enjoy. A World Cup should be for everyone not just those who can drop thousands without blinking.
This is an absolute shame.
@j_macgeever@TheAthleticFC@HenryBushnell $200 for a ticket would be OK, if that was true. But even the first group stage game for the USA team is more than $3,000 for decent seats. Those tickets were like $100 at the last World Cup. This is insane.
