Meet Oakland native, Officer Leyva, OPD’s Trust Building Officer for the Fruitvale neighborhood.
Fluent in English and Spanish, Officer Leyva serves as a vital link between the residents, visitors, and business owners in the area.
One of the most difficult and honorable things we do as law enforcement leaders is care for the officers and family members of our fallen heroes.
The sacrifices made by OPD members and families members that choose this profession must never be forgotten.
Incoming Chief Floyd Mitchell was honored to stand alongside OPD and the families of our fallen heroes at today's memorial.
Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Yesterday, I had the immense pleasure of introducing Oakland's next Police Chief, Floyd Mitchell, to our beautiful town. This event marked a pivotal moment in Oakland's law enforcement leadership, as Chief Mitchell steps into his new role with a commitment to community safety and collaboration.

Happy Friday, Lubbock!
Today we're looking back on last week's Lubbock Area Public Safety Memorial.
Thanks to all the Honor Guard units who represented their agencies and fallen first responders! 💙🖤
Congratulations again to Academy Class 2022B! 13 officers graduated during Friday's ceremony.
We are honored to welcome these new officers to our department💙🖤🎓
In 1962, President Kennedy signed a resolution designating today, May 15th, as National Peace Officers Memorial Day, a day which recognizes fallen officers.
Earlier this month, our very own Honor Guard traveled to Austin to participate in the memorial service there.
This week, we will be honoring and recognizing fallen officers and their service to the Hub City📷📷#NationalPeaceOfficersMemorialDay
We consider ourselves extremely lucky to have these folks by our side every day, but especially on #AdministrativeProfessionalsDay!
We want to send a special "Thank You" to all of LPD's Administrative Professionals!
It may not always be easy to talk to your child about substance use. There is a high risk for today’s generation because of fentanyl. Fentanyl-laced drugs are extremely dangerous.
