What amount of fines is even sufficient for £900m worth of wrongdoing? The answer is none. Clubs were relegated. Clubs lost chances to win. Some lost years of brand equity because yours was artificially inflated. You won unfairly, accumulated advantages, then set the conditions for future wins. This is bigger than a fine. It is the biggest scam in the history of club football and it is bigger than football. It was competitive, institutional and reputational damage. Serious financial crimes were actually committed and people have gone to prison for less. Relegation would be soft landing. The punishment has to be severe enough that no club ever dreams of doing anything like this. Just throw the whole club away and let their total of twelve fans find real clubs to support. I’ve heard enough.
