I asked Mochi not to sell me on GenLayer.

Then I gave it four facts: five free hours a week, no coding skills, no appetite for financial risk, and a habit of explaining difficult ideas.

It picked Creator and ruled out Builder and Validator for me, at least for now.

That felt more useful than onboarding that presents every path as equally suitable. Choosing a role is easy when you describe your ambition. It gets honest when you describe what you cannot sustain.

I want @GenLayer’s cat to add a /wrong-door mode.

Before recommending a path, Mochi should ask about your time, skills, risk tolerance, and preferred way of contributing. Then it should close one door first and explain what would need to change before reopening it.

A good guide should not only show you where to go. It should stop you from starting a role you will abandon two weeks later.

That sounds like a branding win, but this Mochi launch points to something more useful: a mascot can become navigation.

Instead of opening five tabs and guessing whether my question belongs under builders, validators or creators, I would rather tell one familiar character what I am trying to do and let it guide me to the right starting point.

That is where @GenLayer made the mascot functional. Mochi is not sitting beside the product. It is becoming the front door to it.

My next ask would be simple: after answering a question, show me one action I can take in the Portal while the idea is still fresh.

Pick one crypto mascot and name the first real task it should perform instead of just appearing in memes.
