I stumbled on this photo and immediately got overwhelmed with gratitude.

This was me in Malaysia, I had just started my graduate trainee program at an international bank. That year, the bank received 50,000+ applications globally and after rigorous online aptitude tests, followed by phone interviews with the hiring dept in Singapore, I found myself among <100 successful candidates.

Thinking about it now (especially for someone who grew up in rural Zambia), chances of getting selected were pretty low but life, as I have come to understand it now, has no favorites, it accommodates those who keep showing up.
