Poor fellow my country.
Exiling people – including children – to developing nations for 5 proud years.
40 of those children have known nothing beyond their life in detention.

This is heartening news and a testament to refugee leadership and community support.
Great to see @Tony_Burke taking the time to speak to refugees who are a part of our community and after nearly 12 years are asking for a pathway to permanency.
With just days before Labor and Liberals could vote for the deportation bill, please join our friends @racvictoria on Friday as they stand against this cruel legislation.
We are deeply concerned about the growing number of people seeking protection in Australia being detained on Nauru. We continue to advocate for policy reform and, ultimately, the end of offshore processing and detention. #auspol https://t.co/SFsNr7BbDI
Look at the incredible talent of this little boy from #nakivalerefugeesettlement . Please leave words of encouragement in the original post. These kids have so little, 2 master such a skill with all their challenges is a great achievement https://t.co/1fwdBT79hh #artistintraining
So what can Labor voters do? Contact your MP and Senators and tell them you love Labor but you oppose these Trump style powers. Tell them if they do pass this bill, you will put Labor second at the next election. You can still put the Liberals last. ✅ https://t.co/agwZf0n6ts
There are concerns that the Government is planning to vote this in with the Liberals near budget time so the whole nation is distracted. 🚩 https://t.co/omR1juQWyN
This is the sort of power that can ban asylum seekers from entire countries. It’s the sort of power that could have prevented @hometobilo from ever happening. 🚩 https://t.co/upAGmHitIR
Talking with Labor supporters and we are hearing over and over that they don’t know that the Government is planning to give unprecedented powers to one minister to control the lives of asylum seekers. 🚩
The govt’s proposed Deportation Bill would have seen Nades & Priya put in jail, just because they resisted being forced back to danger in Sri Lanka. There are many other families around Aus like the Nadesalingams, who have been living here, working & raising their kids for 10yrs.
Literally, a lady just knocked on my front door asking if "I was a reporter?" And "Could I help?"
She's afraid for her safety. She's been to several police stations who won't assist. The 'thing' (Man is not right the word) has AVOs out on him on three states, he's following her and her counsellor told her to 'go the media' and 'not another with [Victoria] Police.
It's all rather messy. A sister allegedly sleeping with police and the stalker (former boyfriend of lady who knocked on door)
As a male journo, I don't feel it appropriate that I report on women's issues. Are there any female journo's out there willing to speak to this lady?
I'm hoping to have more details later today or tomorrow.
If so, pls DM me before we add this woman to the list of women killed by male violence this year. Please & thank you.
The govt tactic of releasing people from immigration detention to avoid legal defeat is widespread and exposes the human rights abuse that is mandatory, indefinite detention. #auspol https://t.co/wTR77mtklP
Gas flaring is a methane 💣 heating up our world and it's making people sick with toxic fumes linked to cancer. A grieving father is seeking justice for his son's death, demanding @bp_plc#StopGasFlaring worldwide. Join him here https://t.co/bb5fdUiKqs
Disheartening to see the Rwanda offshore detention law pass in the UK.
Over the past decades, Australia’s failed policy of offshore detention provides a recent, real life case study in the human and financial cost.

12 years of a family torn apart, of living in prison-like conditions, of struggling to be heard and believed
Even now, this recognised refugee is only given temporary protection.
We can think of other words, but travesty will do. #auspol https://t.co/ERs6pcoL25
