IFCA is deeply concerned by the findings in the recent @ChildLawProject 2024 report which highlights critical gaps in Ireland’s child protection & welfare system. The report paints a troubling picture of how vulnerable children particularly those navigating complex 1/2

We were truly honoured by the attendance of so many members of the judiciary, in particular the Hon. Mr. Justice Donal O'Donnell, Chief Justice & Presidents of both the High Court & District Court at our #FallingThroughtheCracks report launch.
Many thanks to our wonderful Chairperson, @Noeline_B for her dedication to supporting the work of the Child Law Project since its early days in 2012 & for chairing the #FallingThroughTheCrack report launch
Great to be at launch of @ChildLawProject Falling Through the Cracks report yesterday evening, vital reading. Child protection is the responsibility of everyone, any new government must act like that. Multi-departmental/agency strategy needed to address lack of places in care.
Thanks. One of the bright sparks featured in our #FallingThroughTheCracks report is the work of @Barnardos_IRL running a pilot national project to support parents whose children are in care (funded by @tusla)
As showcased yesterday by @ChildLawProject, this issue continues to grow as placements in foster become fewer and farther between. More & younger children are entering residential care where education becomes a harder task to accomplish due to instability & lack of resources
Many thanks @ConorUCCLaw for your steadfast support of our work & for giving so generously of your & expertise time to chair our Research Advisory Group. @LawUCC Thanks also to RAG member Kenneth Burns @uccsocialwork
"For the first time ever, [@ChildLawProject has] seen cases of young children for whom no foster carer is available; very young children, as young as four years, being placed in residential care; and a ‘waiting list for admission to special care.
