Just one hour after delivering at home, a mother carried her newborn—blue and struggling— across Karachi on a motorcycle to reach emergency neonatal care.
Both survived.
For 2026 #SkollAwardee@ChildLifePak, that story is the motive. Led by Ahson Rabbani, ChildLife works to strengthen the public health system to ensure no child is more than 30 minutes away from lifesaving care—reaching children in rural communities through a nationwide telemedicine network.

This is more than an award, it’s a promise.
ChildLife receives the #SkollAward2026 for #SocialInnovation from the @SkollFoundation.
One goal: every child in Pakistan within 30 mins of free, life-saving emergency care.
Thank you for being part of this Journey.
Every child deserves to get quality emergency care, not based on where they're born or what their family earns.
Thank you @SkollFoundation for championing this vision.
By strengthening emergency care inside Pakistan’s public hospitals and extending specialist expertise through telemedicine, ChildLife Foundation ensures that lifesaving care reaches children where they are—especially the poorest, most remote, and most vulnerable.
@ChildLifePak is committed to government partnerships that can transform public health systems from the inside out. This is social entrepreneurship as infrastructure: durable, scalable, and replicable.

We are honored to receive the Skoll Award for Social Innovation 2026. This recognition reflects the collective efforts of our teams, partners, and supporters who have helped us strengthen Pediatric Emergency care across Pakistan. We are grateful to be part of a global community.
Today, we are thrilled to announce the winners of the 2026 Skoll Award for Social Innovation! Please join us in celebrating ChildLife Foundation, SmartStart, and Indus Action. These remarkable organizations are strengthening the systems that shape pediatric health care, early childhood education, and economic empowerment around the world.
ChildLife Foundation (@ChildLifePak) is slashing the child mortality rate across Pakistan. The organization transforms the country’s pediatric emergency care system by bringing new technologies, training, and processes into government-run facilities, and connecting them to pediatric specialists via a nationwide telemedicine network.
SmartStart Early Learning (@SmartStartSA) is shifting the educational and economic trajectories of marginalized communities across South Africa. Using an innovative social franchise model, the organization increases access to high-quality early learning for children, while creating stable careers for thousands of underemployed community members.
Indus Action (@IndusAction) ensures families across India have the resources they need to thrive. They help citizens navigate complex government systems to access all the public benefits they are eligible for, such as scholarships or maternity support.
Through deep partnership with government and communities, each 2026 Awardee has found a way to make existing systems more responsive to the people they were built to serve—and to do so in a way that lasts.
