The IL Children’s Best Interest Act is designed to prevent this trauma of separation; few courts apply it. Educate the public! Judges now must consider children & keep families together unless a parent poses a SIGNIFICANT risk to the community.

1.25 mil children have a parent in state prison & 1 in 5 of those children is age 4 or younger. Aside from that two-thirds of parents in prison never receive a visit from their children, often due to regressive prison visitation policies. This is a problem!
