The Illinois General Assembly recently voted to pass a proposal that would double the states cannabis possession limit for residents and non-residents.
Why does the concept of a possession limit exist? Who are we protecting?
@ballsack1137826 Thanks for the respect, same to you. The question really is do you wanna fall out of the fifth story Window or the ninth? Both can be pretty bad.
Coming soon on @thecolememo
I’ve submitted a question and FOIA requests to the State of Illinois regarding cannabis policy and regulation.
Stay tuned ~ this may be of interest to home growers and anyone curious about under reported / discussed aspects of the cannabis industry
I support higher possession limits (and eliminating them all together), but the focus of these conversations should be on expanding individual freedom, not boosting in-state sales.
As always, well said, Justin!
It was interesting to hear IL lawmakers discuss increasing possession limits during the recent legislative session.
The rationale for raising the limits was to keep purchases in-state rather than to advance civil liberties in the spirit of decrim
Decriminalization of #cannabis is almost always limited to possession, and it's a crock. Like a parent telling a child it's ok to go to a party but not ok to use any means of transportation to get there.
Cannabis
We need to think about optimizing and restraining the illicit market, because we’ll never eliminate it.
How about tolerating sales of flower with a noninternet supply chain where people trust one another to the point of risking fines?
@DanKReports@chris420blaze_@jamiecampbell Illinois taxes are also mostly irrelevant, but that’s another rant for another day.
Long story short: taxes are NOT the reason that people choose NOT to shop in Illinois. It’s definitely a contributing factor, but not the main driver for people avoiding the regulated market.
@DanKReports@chris420blaze_@jamiecampbell Are MSOs to blame? No.
“MSOs” has become a catch all term that is irrelevant.
As the record shows (see link): you COULD accurately say that *some* corporations are to blame.

Supporters says the bill creates enforcement mechanisms targeting financial collusion, bid-rigging, and other anti-competitive practices within the cannabis industry.
