In a study, a limited number of pigeons where thought to recognize themselves in a mirror to discredite the mirror test. Replication of this study weren't successful, but 2 variations of it gave interesting results:

@markamatony PETA are right the vast majority of the time. The only reason you like this take and not the others is because it doesn't make you confront your ethically indefensible contributions to systems killing billions of innocent beings.

My cat doesn't get out if she's not on a leash
She's not a threat to the bird, they're not scared of cats and they're in a safe spot.
I still don't want her to get around them and the best way for that is to make sure she's not bored.

@siberianlizard @alextredpanda To any cat owners: best way to make sure the cat hunt less is to play with them. That will not stop it but over hunting sometimes comes from boredom!
