Over the weekend, sections of the Church have hosted meetings to address issues in the Church and Nation. Looking at the online reaction, our situation mirrors 1930s Germany. More than ever, we need our own "Karl Barth" to boldly speak truth to both the Church and the Nation.
@lekan_olayinka1@Duke_Danny_5@pfemiolaleye The confusion sets in when we hold the tripartite view of man - distinction spirit, soul and body. You rightly said it, we are simple body and soul/spirit.
The death of the body is God's breath leaving the body, and returning to Him.
@Mohsule_@its_noav Thanks brother. However, our people from the patristic views (Eastern Church Fathers) will beg to differ. Having interacted with the western view, and now interacting with the Eastern school of thought, I find it much more biblically compelling.
What do make of this difference?
@AirtelNigeria@AirtelNigeria this thing does not work. I HAVE used it before (had to stop using it), and it doesn't work. I have several friends with the same experience.
I dey find person wey go help me buy, I want take the money buy bottles of cashew. 😂😂
@mayorfromthe60s Powerful, that angle of consumption is similar to it being part of our confession.
Then he clarifies why the major apostles did not baptize themselves. And that's in context with what Paul was saying.
@Mohsule_@DrFeruke Then, for Jesus, we know he spoke about a "baptism" which he was about to be baptized, a cup he was about to drink.
Can we infer that his "confession" before Pilate, was in a way his entrance in that baptism, for we that after that "confession" his suffering began in ernest.
@Mohsule_ In line with @DrFeruke position on baptism as confession, can we refer to this instance Paul is referring to as the moment Timothy was baptized?
@SammieSaliu I best discussion I have heard on this is by the Bible Project guys, they wove the whole thing from Genesis 1 down to Revelation. Good stuff.
